Omicron is basically nature's answer to antivaxxers by wiping out Delta. Let her rip indeed. The more we slow this down, we are prolonging the pain.
I was thinking the same. If this strain is less lethal, we might just be better to open up, infect damn near everyone, and be done with it.

It would have to be worldwide through, and I'm not sure even then it would be stamped out enough to keep from eventually ramping back up.

The other element that concerns me is if we see a mutation that becomes especially lethal. Maybe better to kill off a few million now to save a hundred million later?

How do you open up without collapsing our hospitals? Which btw, have been at “near collapse”, at every wave. Level of care needs to change for a #letherrip2022 scenario to be viable. No politician is going to risk rustling those jimmies.

    It’s a weird dichotomy.

Reddit lefty losers bitch when Kenney isn’t there, but they also don’t like seeing him.

Just let 'er rip and stop access to healthcare for Covid positive people. lol

Healthcare will probably collapse just from a lack of staff.

Triage. If your chances of living are slim (unvaccinated with Covid), your luck has run out. The key is not calling triage protocol a collapse of the hospitals.

It’s either that or we continue to pay for the selfish actions of the unvaccinated.

Can we triage people out of hospitals who don’t have health insurance to pay for their stay?

We need to stop scapegoating the unvaccinated to move past this pandemic. Double and triple vax are still catching omicron so I fail to see the correlation with unvax being to blame for our current situation. Yes, being vaccinated reduces severe outcomes. But so does having antibodies from natural exposure.

We are not going to vaccinate our way out of this problem. It is time to look at early treatment of infections and let omicron rip. Treat people early so they dont develop into hospital/icu cases. The current "treatment" of stay home until your oxygen levels are low enough to need an ambulance ride is 50% of the problem. We are just dumb lucky that omicron has mutated into an upper respiratory infection.

You fail to see how 70% of hospital cases being unvaccinated, and no cases of those having boosters, shows a correlation to how vaccines would prevent the health system from being overwhelmed?

“Natural immunity” doesn’t have good production. Especially against Omicron. Infection plus a single dose has the double-dose efficacy, so if you want less severe outcomes, get vaccinated even if you’ve already been infected.

The unvaccinated deserve to be scapegoated. As for “treat people early”, it’s thousands of dollars per case more to treat a Covid case compared to a vaccine. So we shouldn’t prioritize that approach because it’s stupid and fiscally irresponsible.

    Lasts longer than a booster!

I'm double vax'd but continuing to scapegoat the unvax is not helpful.

New case counts are 82% fully vax and 16.5% unvax. Hospitalizations are 49% vax and 47% unvax. So to blame the entire pandemic outcomes on unvax is not logical.

Half of the hospitalizations are from 20% of the population.

If 100% of the population is vaccinated, then 100% of the cases will be from vaccinated.

New case counts are useless and you need to look into the hospitalization data a bit deeper. The unvaccinated hospitalization rates are significantly higher. And if you look more, there is a big disparity in hospitalization data when comparing a condition or no condition for vaccinated versus unvaccinated.

Who thinks AB will announce another lockdown in the next 2 weeks or less? Will drink a pour of whiskey every night in preparation.

And that's the numbers they need to start reporting on.

But they won't, doesn't scare enough of the population to get clicks.

This isn’t the same as efficacy.

It also predates the variants that showed reduced immunity (except for people who had also been vaccinated, who had a significant increase).

So it can’t be said enough: get vaccinated even if you’ve been infected.

Even using these numbers you can’t see how 16.5% of the population being responsible for half the hospitalizations doesn’t show a correlation that vaccination improves outcomes?

If those 16.5% got vaccinated, then 100% of hospitalizations would be vaccinated, but the amount of total hospitalizations would be about half as much. The unvaccinated are the scapegoats for good reason, they’re the problem.
