We really need to look at death rates at this point, more than anything. Unfortunately it's a lagging indicator. But we know way, way more about the disease than we did even a few weeks ago. Put people on their stomachs in the hospitals, give them remdesivir early in a case progressing to severe. Watch diabetics and heart disease patients closely. Get everyone taking Vitamin D in high doses. Protect vulnerable populations. Use corticosteroids to improve outcomes in hospitalized patients. More will be forthcoming.

If this isn't killing people at the rate we thought, and at the rate it once was, then the case numbers aren't the most important factor. I'm mostly concerned about long term organ damage that we haven't been able to understand well so far (kidney, heart, etc).
Totes agree. I'm just finding their explosion interesting. >40x more cases than us recently.

Bill Gates is a disappointed dad
    https://www.businessinsider.com/bill...y-false-2020-6

CDC: US infection should be around 23M, only 2.3 tested and confirmed
    https://fortune.com/2020/06/25/us-co...-cdc-estimate/

Applying Austria uncontrolled death rate of 0.4%, with 130k deaths so far, I think infected should be around 35M. If infected at 23M then US death rate is at 0.6%.

Closer to home, outbreak at a condo in East Village, 32 cases, 27 active, 3 hospitalized.

This bug is tough. Survives well where sun don't shine.

Lets hope it isn't able to spread like SARS was - apartment toilets. But from what I've read thus far, high-traffic touch surfaces seem to be contributing the most to transmission. So it's likely people are touching handles/buttons etc and not washing hands when they get in their unit (forgetting or not caring).

True. I think society just mainly needs a hygiene refresher and upgrade some basic skills that so many people aren't following. Just consider how many people you see in busy workplaces or other crowded areas that have ludicrous bathroom habits. Touch dick, touch urinal handle already touched by every other dick toucher, leave without washing hands, go to lunch room and touch fridge handle, microwave buttons, eat. That's easily 20% of people and it's about 7% that do the same thing after a shit.
For a bunch of basic bitches, they sure can't do basic hygiene!

that, or use the same comparison with shorts to justify using the mask as a chinstrap

New cases today in Florida = 8,942.
That is 49x more per capita than today in Alberta.
It is about 5x more than Alberta's worst day ever. But, let's hit the beach, lick our hands, fail to use a voting machine correctly and get back to work. Just like we would if we had 1,820 new cases recorded in one day!

I don’t think the government really cares and at this point the population is tired of lockdowns. Masks, social distancing and whatever else isn’t being taken seriously as it is in Canada, despite whatever government orders. From personal experience, they might mean well, but your average American is dumb.

Lockdown wont come back. But if it doesn't get under control, expect economy and market continue to crash, so mandatory mask will probably be next to keep economy going.
