New numbers for the day. Around a hundred deaths a day now. I'm kinda watching how things pan out for the infected cruise ship. 135 cases on board now, will be curious to see what that translates to for recovered vs don't make it. Hopefully the onboard medical staff can contain things.
Coronavirus Cases: 42,760
Deaths: 1,013
Recovered: 4,097

Did we decide if this had become something to truly panic about, or is it ho-hum? I can't decide.

Well its killed more than SARS did in around a third of the time.... so it is a concern to be aware of. But we have 0 cases locally so not really something to be concerned about in everyday life at the moment. Thus far the border screening / honor system is holding up just fine. There's a bunch of self quarantined people in Calgary that the community is helping provide supplies to so they don't have to interact with anyone. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. So no reason to worry in Calgary yet but it's good to know whats going on in the world.

Number is meaningless now. Death occurs outside of hospitals are not counted. Just like if you are not working but are not actively looking for work, you don't count against unemployment stats. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

1st factory shut down is Nissan's factory in Japan due to lack of parts. FCA said some European plants can last another 2-4 weeks without Chinese parts. Toyota is scrambling to find suppliers and check inventories outside of China.
We are about to find out what economy will be like without China.

Meh, white people are just exclusionist by nature. Its pretty obvious that 51% of Britons think the Irish are mouth breathers. Race is only a small part of "elitism", you can be elitist without race having a part to play. You could almost say that the entire reason that Europe has such a tiny population - is because they kill each other off every two centuries or so, usually over things like who produces the best cheese.
Europe is primarily "rich" because they keep on killing off their neighbors in plunder.
You don't want to be in that game anyhow, because much like the moon landing - its mostly lies and chest thumping. Which I also find that white women tend to believe, or at least pretend to believe, like watching a wrestling match as if it was real.
WWIII will not break out in the middle east. It will as the first two did, break out and cause most damage in Europe, because some European dolt decides that his neighbors breath is bad because he chose the wrong cheese to eat that morning. Mark my words.
Wait, what were we talking about again?

But risk of human to human is low says health Canada. The man likely caught the virus, formally known as 2019-nCoV, on a business trip to Singapore in January.
Now, the same man is being linked to around 10 cases of the novel coronavirus across Europe.
It's likely there's unreported deaths, and it could be (likely is) a lot more than being reported but this is the numbers we have so still worth posting. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I just sent off a couple request for quotes from our supplier over there to have some things manufactured. I'm curious to see what the pricing comes back as I think that'll be pretty telling, if things are way worse than it appears I imagine there will be lots of parts shortages and issues with the manufacturing lines.

You should be far more concerned about the regular flu - I know the hospitals certainly are. Patients that were/are expected of having this virus in Calgary are just being sent home to self-quarantine and as far as I know nobody has actually had it here yet. The people dying from this are exactly the same demographic that the normal flu kills (immuno-compromised, very old, very young, etc.)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. What's funny is that if a coronavirus vaccination came out tomorrow, everyone would want it, but many of those people still wouldn't get the annual flu vaccination.
Some key information (IMO anyway) still being left out every time people post the death tolls is that:
A) The overwhelming majority of deaths are still isolated to China
B) ~80% of the deaths are immuno-compromised people
C) In ~75% of those deaths, people had severe underlying health conditions such as cardiovascular disease
It's just the media flavor of the week from everything I've seen so far. In all likelihood this will kill a tiny fraction of what the regular annual influenza will (as was the case with SARS, MERS, Ebola, H1N1, etc.) Diversify your news sources as best you can and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
Just follow standard hygiene routines of keeping your hands away from your face and washing your hands regularly and you have very little to worry about, especially here in Calgary.
WHO is unaware that China changed the definitions of confirmed cases to count only people with symptoms despite testing positive.
