There must be some reason for it though isn't there? Maybe the kid is severely immuno-compromised? BUT if that was the case why is he even going outside his bubble? Instilling fear like that unnecessarily into a kid gonna be great when they grow up.
I suppose it's possible he has some condition. He didn't mention it, and I'm mostly seeing a pattern where the kids are channeling their mothers, like with anything else. And who can blame them. It's tragic. Kids don't know any better and at 7 years old they count on their parents to know everything and keep them safe. I don't even necessarily blame the parents. Nobody knows what to do and there is conflicting info everywhere unless you spend hours upon hours trying to get a well rounded picture. Then whatever you decide, someone is still going to say you're doing it wrong, whether it's too much or not enough.

The funny part is there are 5 boys ranging from age 4 to 7 and they're all gross little germ factories. First one to get sick is going to light up everyone in a matter of minutes haha. I bet that game controller has at least two new variants on it alone.

Pretty much all my in-laws down here got it and they describe it as an annoying hangover for about a week. Fatigue and mild headache but no respiratory symptoms like previous variants. I believe most if not all are double vaxed and boosted too.

Neat how ICU trend is diverging from hospitalizations. Shame hospitalizations are still going up. Don't like that.

Hospitalizations going up may be more about people being idiots and overreacting. ICU is based on the judgement of the hospital after analysis.

I seen people get hospitalized over the stupidest things or if they whine enough about something trivial.

Remember emergency rooms pre-covid? Most of the people there just needed a walk-in clinic, or some Tylenol.

I know, I was just pointing out how eager people are to use a hospital, unecessarily.

Does anyone know anyone who has been hospitalized but not ICU'd? What do they actually do with a covid patient that doesn't need a ventilator? Is it just for monitoring, or is there some treatment they give you that requires administration at a hospital?

Was feeling shitty, mostly just tired, but the kids talked me into taking a covid test so they could administer it. The experience, and the test, were both negative.

With the hospitalization numbers, I've seen quite a few data commentators on social media saying that some jurisdictions are just heaping numbers together of people hospitalized because of covid, and people hospitalized for other reasons but happen to have covid. Both numbers are growing, but some people that are going to hospital with Omicron, don't even realize they have it, the testing protocol just reveals it.

It's harder than it seems to untangle that number. You could say omicron is a co-factor leading to hospitalization of people with other issues. Or the other way around. Or people could catch it in the hospital. Really rough to know.

Either way, whatever makes up that number, we'd all feel better when it starts dropping.

    Edit spelling.

Probably should have worded it better.

So many factors involved you just gotta wonder how many could have prevented being hospitalized. I'll just say this... Lots of folks play the ignorance card until it happens to them and people tend to panic at what they don't know.

Probably shouldn't have said "I seen", someone's going to think you're headed to Ottawa.

I'm sorry, the patient's panic or ignorance have little to do with hospitalization, Covid related or not... unless you mean they're a threat to themselves or others and would benefit from admission to the psych ward?

Went to the registry office today in Red Deer. I noticed most of the staff behind the counter were not wearing masks.

As I waited in the queue, a guy got in line behind me. One of the workers came over and told him to put on a mask. He politely declined and she continued to press him. Again, politely said he was exempt and didn't need one. Just wanted to do his business and leave. There was an old woman in front of me who was getting agitated by this. The worker continued to press him and then decided to get the manager. As she did that, the old woman went to the counter.

I quietly leaned towards the unmasked fellow and told him to stand his ground. LOL!

Manager walks over and ties into the guy. I decided to take a seat right next to the action. Old woman at the counter said to 'call the cops! I'm a nurse and this makes me furious!'

Manager is telling the guy that in order to be served he will need to put a mask on. Everyone here needs to wear a mask. At this point, I chimed in 'Uhhhhhh, most of the staff behind the counter aren't wearing masks you know.'

Manager looks at me and doesn't say anything and then goes back to unmasked guy. The guy said he would then put one on 'under duress'.

I got called to the counter, did my thing. The guy also got called to the counter now, but he is now pissed off completely and goes off about 'compliance isn't the answer, this is communism, blah blah blah.' Young woman in line then pipes up 'IT'S TWO MINUTES. JUST PUT IT ON GOT GOD SAKE.'

Guy turns to her and says 'I'm sorry if I'm making people uncomfortable, but these restrictions should have ended by now.'

I yelled out, "I'm not uncomfortable!" LOL, I was loving every minute of it.

He finished up and took his mask off. Went towards the exit yelling a bunch of crazy shit. Place was packed so lots of folks saw this go down.

He did good at the beginning but was off the rails towards the end.

Not going to lie, the manager going on about how everyone needs to wear a mask while her staff didn't was some straight up rules for thee not for me shit. At least I called her out on it so she knows that shit doesn't go unnoticed.

10/10. Would love to witness something like that again lol.
