Be serious. Noone on beyond would work in a slaughterhouse for minium wage and no benefits. The plants would just close.

Actually they're paid quite well... Starting at Cargill is 24+ really good benefits.

But getting in the door - is a challenge...

This is really surprising to me in a macro sense.

    People aren’t eating anymore?
I have to assume the consumption levels met by the restaurant industry have no realistic way of being met by in home cooking perhaps?

Or less fast food = less low grade meat outlets.

Well, that is good news, I stand corrected. It's hard work.

I wonder if they will start wholesaling sides of beef soon. I would be in.

I can buy a side locally already for 4 dollars a pound, that's a reasonable price cut/wrapped imo. Honestly, I hope it doesn't get much better as that's just another indication of another faltering market sector if it does.

Was just chatting with a buddy who runs a food prep and catering kitchen.

He said prices haven’t gone down at all on his end and demand is super strong right now from what he is seeing.

Feds imposing tougher quarantine rules on returning travellers, PM Trudeau says

    https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/corona...says-1.4895280

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the federal government is imposing tougher quarantine measures for returning travellers, announcing that as of midnight tonight anyone who is asymptomatic and returning to Canada from abroad has to have a “credible quarantine plan” or they will be forced to spend 14 days in isolation in a “quarantine location.”
Should have been like this from the very beginning, oh well I guess they'll be ready for the next virus that comes from China.

Is it just me, or does that not sound "tough" at all?

    Sounds like an internment camp.

Unless you are a white weekend warrior / hunter where we consider it “fun”
If you need a hunting partner when meat goes scarce i'm your huckleberry. I'll be out catching walleye on the off days.

It's not. It's a "pretty please have a plan in place but we won't actually enforce anything" way about of doing things. People coming back from overseas need to self-isolate and have someone check in to make sure they don't leave. That or have the Army set up Snowbird Camps for those paper Canadians. Tents and all.

Speaking of... what’s even available for the outdoor types right now? Are public lands still accessible? BC is basically locked down. Parks are a no-no to drive to...

Hunting is “essential service” so my understanding is crown is fair game.

My vote is keep a fishing rod on your vehicle to avoid being hassled by the fuzz

I guess anyone spend 1 day out of the country is now needed to book 15 days off.

Not tough at all it's still voluntary and we all know how well that goes.

But if you are guarding people from airports to a camp, the right will scream fucking murder because freedom.

Hrm... interesting loophole. Think that would get me to Ontario? Really rather spend the summer at the lake than house... if Trudeau can do it...

hey if you need to feed your family and the fish are all in Ontario I can’t see how the government has any right to stop you.
