Rich New Yorkers abandoning New York. Arguably the slowest moving apocalypse ever.

0.5 gram microsd delivered by 12,000 pound combustion vehicle and driver.

Weddings with tons of people are kind of stupid really. The wedding is really about 2 people only and IMHO is better as an intimate affair. Fuck everyone who thinks they need to be part of your personal moments.

Now the party on the other hand is where you can have the peeps and the good times, and you can do that any time. You don't need to do it on the same day as the vows by any means.
As my niece's wedding got postponed twice by rona....(or could be cancelled by this point). it's all about showing off her hot hubby.

Also, a lot of it is because the elders wants it, it's never about the couple in Chinese weddings.

There's a bunch of nice little outdoor places in the city you could just show up and use. At this point I'd be using covid as an excuse to scrap the whole ceremony and trim it down to immediate family only. Take ~15 people and go to a cute place in the city and just do it now with just family. Less stress, less cost.

This is true universally, not just for Chinese weddings. As I work more in the wedding space, it's very clear that the wedding is about respecting tradition and allowing your friends/family to be part of it. Not something I'm into, but that seems to be true of many people these days.

Following in the grand Canadian tradition of the potlatch, where the more money you spend, the more wealthy you seem, and the more respected you are. Probably a more healthy communal worldview than the skinflint Scottish protestant kind of notion of self-reliance.

But according to Beyond, Canadians hate the wealthy, and they aren't respected at all.

Just when you thought the debate around Coronavirus couldn't get any dumber, you got two guys here with a fucking get out of jail free card and they're trying to figure out how to throw it away.

I volunteer for this research. If everyone on Beyond can donate $100g to me for my research, I will find test the theory that Canadians will loath my wealth and not respect me.

Where do you guys see this a year from now? We were supposed to have our wedding on the 29th but have postponed it until August 2021. Trying to plan for that but with Covid and the gathering restrictions, it's really up in the air. Personally, I am not optimistic that our situation will be improved by this time next year. I'm also not convinced that some of the services we hired will even make it until then. Tam, even tho I don't see her in the highest regard, says she expects this to be another 2 or 3 years.

Of course hindsight being 20/20, I really should have proposed to my gf earlier and had a wedding... but this is the way it turned out. Definitely added some more stress in our lives.
We had our legal wedding in feb, scheduled a wedding in Hawaii for April, which got pushed to November, which will likely get pushed again to April 2021 if Hawaii moves their date for dropping quarantine again

I mean every individual on Beyond donates $100g. Not Beyond as a collective donates that amount.

Didn't Hawaii open things up to Canadians? Though you'd still have to isolate I guess.

It's changed a couple times, but last I read you didn't have to isolate if you had negative test results within 72 hours of arrival, but when you return to Canada you will still need to isolate for the 2 weeks. Seems to be a moving target though, I wouldn't be comfortable booking just yet, especially with travel insurance companies silently changing their fine print to explicitly exclude anything covid-related.

It was supposed to be august 1 that the 2 week quarantine would be lifted in favour of a negative Covid test, then it was moved to September 1, and now they are seeing triple digit increases on Oahu daily. My confidence on sept 1 isn’t high.

My fiancee's cousin was supposed to be married in April. She postponed it and then just cancelled it entirely a couple weeks ago.
