    - Get your flu shots, because the normal flu is still a much greater health risk to people in Canada than Coronavirus
Which hasn't been great this year. Maybe they guessed the wrong strains for this years flu shot? But lots of people getting flu shots still getting flu this year.

I have a buddy who swears that getting really drunk can prevent the cold or flu from lingering. Make the body inhospitable to the germs, I guess is the theory. I think he's just an alcoholic, but he swears he's a genius.

Your buddy maybe onto something. I've never seen Lahey missed a day on the job back in the day.

The theory goes that if you gargle with pure spirits, you will kill off most germs and sanitize the mouth - which I tend to believe. You can also get a cotton swab, dip it in listerine or alcohol and do your ears and nose cavity. Its only a drop and a half, and yet - it does kill off a lot of nasties.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

but it does work as a barrier - and keeps your hands off your face.

Funny I ran across a couple public health posts about not using industrial respirators. Don't use them, effective but cause panic... I need to hit a hospital for blood work this week, I totally need to finish off my plague mask

Hot sauces also do a great job of sterilizing foods.

Lots of posts even say masks are not very effective but if there is a real threat something is better than nothing. Saw two people yesterday on the train with masks. I think if we get a confirmed case, we'll see a lot more masks and stores are already sold out.

A buddy of mine who has been working in Hong Kong for several years and is well connected internationally for commodity trading is hearing the actual number of deaths is in the thousands and infections are in the tens of thousands.

It would help explain why 50 million people are now in lock-down.

Hopefully it's not as bad as he's hearing as if the virus gets to India or Africa or other places not able to quickly respond it could be catastrophic.
