To be fair my cars not worth too much less than the purchase price, but I had some disastrous expensive failures that is what kills the finances for me. I had rear diff failure like 6 months after I bought my car.

He's probably not far off. The FM platform that this future model will be based debuted in 2001 for crying out loud and Nissan has stretched aging platforms and drivetrains to the point where they have become the Chrysler of Japanese automakers but at least Chrysler has Jeep.

I really hope Nissan does this, a 370Z plus the Red Sport engine could be a great combination as long as it doesn't get that shitty steer by wire system. Oh and for the love of god it better get a proper diff as that's the one thing that really holds back the current 350Z/370Z.

That is great news, I hope that rumor is true as well. The current ones are like the Miata - slow and boring to drive (in my opinion) while they hold off from forced induction for reasons I don't understand. Can't cost them that much to add a turbo and transform the car.

Well the Supra is very under-rated at 335hp with some dynos reporting 335 at the wheels. So let's say realistically it's actually ~375+hp.

You could slot a turbo FRS in at 210-240hp with a nice small fast spooling turbo and that would still leave room for a 300-325hp 4 banger Supra.

The FR-S is an incredible platform, it doesn't necessarily need more power, it just needs an engine that isn't fucking garbage. The FA20 is trash because of the torque dip right in the middle of the power band. Seriously the 1.6 turbo in my fiesta is way more fun even with less power.

Isn't the Supra a lot 'more car' than a FRS? I thought the supra's were $50K+ and based on the BMW Z4. A boosted FRS could still easily be $~30K.

Thing is though the under-rated number is still the Toyota number, so 335hp is what it is, the turbo 4cyl Turbo Supra in Japan makes 194hp-225hp depending on tune (https://www.motor1.com/news/347234/t...-registration/). So if the ~225hp Supra exists I don't think there is room for a low two hundred horsepower FRS though I do agree with you that a 210-240hp turbo motor in the existing car (without adding much curb weight) would be great.

Yes but can a company justify having two 2XXHP RWD Sports cars? Keep in mind that the current FRS is like 700lbs lighter than the current Supra so if they both had turbo 4cyl engines with similar power outputs the FRS would cannibalize the 4cyl Turbo Supra IMO.
