    Default Interesting Fab Project

I built a custom stand for a $200,000 laser dlp projector for the old planetarium. Contemporary Calgary leased the building for 25 years and are turning it into an art gallery.
They are bringing back movies and laser light shows. The projector is around 4' long and 30" wide and 400lbs.

I had to fabricate the stand in 2 sections to fit up the small spiral staircase. I am going to tig weld the sections together once they are in the projector room.
The top and shelf are black edged melamine and the tubing is 2" square x 1/8". Timeline is super short but I managed to pull it together. Been a rush project!
Millwork screwed up on the dimensions of the shelf so i will need to get that re-made

I’m just collecting parts for that now, never tig welded in my life though haha... the 210 has been great for someone who hasn’t MIG welded in years to pick it back up though.

You can TIG weld wearing sweat pants sitting on your couch, if you wanted to, and not worry about burning your house down. My machine will also do stick welding, but I'm afraid my garage is not very splatter friendly with mostly wood benches and plastic stuff / chemicals all over.
