I don't think any part of Aspen west of 85th St is all that nice to be honest.

I liked the west side just fine when I lived there.

It's pretty much the epitome of middle-class keep up with the joneses mcmansionville, though. With people that think they are hotter shit than they are.

    But maybe that's me.
Totally, but that is Calgary in a whole haha.

I would say 95% of the city is neck deep in debt.

But you should be use to it, as that is Beyond to a tee hahaha.

I actually find that most of the beyond people that write tend to have a pretty reasonable and realistic outlook on finances. Maybe in the past people were silly, but nowadays it's all about index investing and paying down mortgages.

A lot have been humbled by the economic downturn of Calgary, but this place still oozes bullshit.

Aspen is the best neighborhood in Calgary? I think most people would disagree with that...

Along with every other community in Calgary.

    Crime rises when populations rise.

Park your car in the garage.

I think the problem is it's proximity to the train line (not that it is unique in that regard - crime seems to cluster around the train lines). I have a few friends in Aspen and they have both had numerous problems with theft and property damage (yes they have garages).

It's also just so far away from everything, like the Auburn Bay of the West haha. If you work out that way though then that's good.

I'm not a huge fan of the area, but that's just not accurate in any way.

Auburn bay is only 3 times as far from downtown! haha

It’s a 43min walk from my place to the train station, I wouldn’t say that is convenient for a thief. There are a bunch of ring videos going around of kids being recorded trying to break into cars parked outside. They don’t look like bums, they look like delinquent kids from the communities.

    So far from what?
    $22 Uber ride to downtown
Easiest commute to downtown, straight down Bow.
    Easiest exit to the mountains.
    Right beside the ring road.
    Just my opinion of course.

It was a joke guys, hence the "haha" at the end. Sorry for the confusion....

It's not exactly an inner city neighborhood though. Not a fan of the far West personally.

Be thankful you dont have the Webber parents who cut through your road like I do.
I don't dare to leave my house between 8.15 and 8.45 as the sheer volume and speeds these parents reach so they can avoid Calgary Academy drop off traffic is insane. We all risk being re-ended because these parents cut the corner and speed around it.

We had one parent who could not wait 10 seconds to wait for my neighbour to back up onto his driveway, that she drove across their front yard & driveway, across the portion of my front yard that's next to theirs and our driveway to reach the street again.

I also purposely delay getting home until that same line of traffic is gone at pickup time.

You should send this to the City & Webber Academy.

Apparently the school has been trying to get approval by the City for a 2nd exit onto 17ave, but the City is refusing.

    It’s complete bullshit.

Doesn't even crack the top 50 in yearly rankings haha.

Aspen beat by Falconridge, Marlborough, Whitehorn, Dover, Forest Lawn...

Perfect example of the bullshit in Calgary.

    What a joke.

Can you imagine someone using this information that is thinking of moving to Calgary. WTF!

I looked at a few places in Aspen in the fall, fuck it took me like 45 minutes to get back home to the inner city after showings.

If the city expanded to the west of Aspen then the whole of aspen basically becomes douglasdale or Macewan.

Not to be an asshole, but no thanks. “Best neighborhood in the city” lol

What inner city community do you live in?

I sell most of the inner city and I can get to any of them within 25min on the worst day.

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.
