Does gerrymandering even apply for the presidential election? I thought that’s more for House and state legislatures
In a indirect way it slightly does.

In terms of the president for this election it doesn't typically sway things, the electoral college mostly goes to the victor overall. However it does affect local elections significantly and those local officials make policy that governs the state (and future elections). So decisions about when ballots can arrive by, what access to early voting is available, etc are done by the state. So those in power can help skew policy to slightly favor one demographic sometimes.

Is a trump Mitch Pelosi combo any better for some reason?

It absolutely does apply. More in some states than others, but since each state has it's won rules for how votes translate into elector college stuff, yes.
How does it apply to the 47 states that don’t do the EV split thing?

Has there been an election closer than this, with a similar amount of voters?
It's pretty amazing to witness this. 6 states hold the decision!

Didn't Gore-Bush go down to a single state recount and had to be decided by the SCOTUS? Less voter turnout I assume though.

Makes sense but it’s a stretch. But my point is that in practice, the way districts are drawn doesn’t really affect statewide elections (like presidency EVs) by definition. If the state changes the way EV are decided due to the gerrymandering then I guess that’s how it indirectly affects it but I don’t see that realistically happening any time soon.

I'm not an expert, but I think the idea is to set it up so "opposition" voters are grouped together in fewer ridings (districts?) so that your own supporters become a majority in a higher number of districts. I think that works in any state that doesn't give the entire number of electoral college votes to the winner of the statewide popular vote.

Yes to both. It was Florida, Bush won by a mere 537 votes.

So far if every state votes the way it is projected, and even if Trump wins Pennsylvania, it looks like Biden wins 270-267. If Biden wins Pennsylvania he should win by a pretty significant margin.

Doesn't seem to be any actual source for this. Just the same images circulating twitter and people reposting it. There's differing comments of saying 'oh go check XYZ site' but when I did I can't find any other reference. Not to mention there's spikes like this in other states going the otherway. Look at Pennsylvania at 20%. Huge lead then boom giant spike and they are losing.
It was reported and then recanted. There was a "human error" from the counting stations where they accidently added a 0 to their reported votes or some shit. It was covered very briefly on the news this morning. But those two graphs were screengrabs of an actual vote count, not making this election any less controversial.
I can eat more hot wings than you.

    Congrats? You know how to add 238 + 16 + 6 + 10 = 270 off the Google front headlines?

My takeaway from this election is after the last four years, approx. half of the US still feels that Trump is the better option.

Remarkable isn't the right word. Open to suggestions.

The Dems made the same mistake they made 4 years ago. Electing the wrong person as their candidate.
