My Seiko SNZG11J1 showed up today. Shown beside my trusty SNK809 for size comparison.
Couldn't find locally, bought from Joomashop. Funny the lettering the the days of the week is English/Arabic.
Total including shipping and duty was $229 CAD. Seems very reasonable.

That's because you got the "J" model and not the "K" model. The "J" models are made in Japan whereas the "K" models are made in various factories in southeast Asia. "J" models have arabic as the 2nd language and the "K" models that get sent to North America are usually in French for the 2nd language. I've never noticed a difference in quality between the two, but the "J" models are more desireable and usually command some type of a premium.

That watch looks really nice and a great size. Does it have a hardlex crystal or sapphire? If it's not a sapphire, is there an aftermarket one available?

I think the K models were ten bucks cheaper, but I found a coupon code for ten bucks off so I splurged. I think there was more than one of each, maybe different languages, I couldn't tell. Would have been pissed if this one didn't have English.

It's the best money you can spend to mod a Seiko. Slap in a sapphire and never worry about scratches again.

congrats, great everyday field type watch.
I still have the SNZG07 that my wife gifted me years ago, but also owned a SNZG13 that I modded.

Well, after lurking this thread for a year or so, and realizing all I've worn my whole life are digital watches and smart watches, I figured it was time I got something clean and simple. So I now have this:

If it looks familiar, its because you've seen it a few posts above, its has been previously enjoyed by @ExtraSlow , who seems to be a great guy, and gave me a good rundown on how to adjust/set date time and such since I'm a noob. This will be my daily driver, everyday/work watch, but i do want to get a new glass for it, and maybe a different strap, but will have to do some digging as I know absolutely nothing about messing with these things. But I've always liked the Seiko style, and may get something a bit bigger as a secondary/weekender that i can customize since it looks like the modding community/possibilities are endless. Looks like another money pit...

The nice thing is that if you commit any crime, it will probably be extraslows dna you leave at the scene
