Alberta GDL status

I don’t understand how some here are getting away without a full license....

My last two employers have asked about my current license... whether or not I was on GDL. Both asked me about it in my interview process with the second also requiring an abstract. This always led me to believe it may be a hold up on getting a job.

Anyway, got off GDL ASAP. Agree with others here, it’s a cash grab.

Unless your company has a giant busy body HR department or has been burned by it in the past I don’t see why GDL would even be on their radar.

I only got mine because I was in talks for a job at a very large company who I figured would care.

5+ year, owner op, comm cargo/liability policies, still on GDL. Don't drink so meh waste of time

My wife got the free BC GDL to Alberta full license upgrade with no delay. Myself, I had learners at 14, drove my own truck into Edmonton for driver’ training at 15, then wrote my drivers test on my 16th birthday. Small town living.
