    Default Garage door repair

I am looking for some opinions on garage door repairs. A couple of years ago we had our garage door re-painted. The guy who did it must not have used a rust inhibitor, because now there is quite a bit of rust at the bottom of the door. It is actually turning white in spots on the bottom panel. We have tried to contact him to fix this, but he is not responding to our messages.

I am looking for someone who can replace/repair & repaint the panel and quickly. We are hoping to put the house on the market at the end of February/early March.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Paint was always the big challenge.

Paint match was always a nightmare - better off to replace The panel and repaint the whole door.

Do doors typically get spray painted or rolled?

I don't know general rule, but my new house's garage door with hardie board/smart board overlay is rolled. the gloss outdoor paint levels out really well and you cant see any roller stipple, I've even touched up with a small brush before and the paint just levels out perfect.

Both... Some spray, some roll. Largely dependent on the base finish of the door, goal is to not have to sand/scuff at all costs... Which basically means - they find a paint that'll sticks and whatever that door needs is what it needs...

Thanks, I'll check them out. I'm pretty sure the guy who painted the door didn't use the correct paint. The door was fine, just needed to be freshened up, and now we have to replace the door. Won't be using him again for anything.

Does he have a website? I googled Best Garage doors Inc Calgary and got a bunch of different companies, but none named "Best Garage Doors Inc".

I wouldn't replace the door, for a few spots on the bottom starting to oxidize... Rust converter (zinc chromate) applied 2-3x to the areas suffering. Then etch primer over that. Roll a new coat over top. Take the side/top weatherstrip off before you start, mark the edges and alignment hashes in pencil on the jamb. Single coat of a standard latex outdoor paint, may need 2 over primer. Done.

This guy. We had another garage door installer over and he even complimented Tony's installation.
