Pro tip. If you are going to Hawaii book your return PCR WEEKS in advance.

Don’t be a dummy like me, try to book a week in advance, and realize they are fully booked for the period I need.

Unfortunately none of the testing requires a deposit, so I’m pretty sure people are booking 3-4 of them.

Yeah good deal, checked out my same flights for our Kauai trip in Jan and it's $500 roundtrip which is plenty fair.

There's a direct flight for Lihue to Calgary now apparently, we got moved over to that after they cancelled our other return flight that had us going through Van originally, so this worked out in our favour.

Do have to verify, everything is amazing and very cheap here in Argentina. Like... really cheap and still very first world. People sleep on it.

Keeping an eye on the Omicron, but US prices seem to be stabilizing; March flights to the East coast US (NYC, BOS, PHI) are in the $5xx or lower.

Biden is supposed to announce new measures tomorrow, speculation of covid test within 24 hours of departure, possible retesting required within a few days after your arrival. Hopefully no quarantining comes into play.

Sounds like how the UK did their testing measurements in the early days

We just booked Hawaii for mid February through WestJet, figured if things go bad we can cancel our flight at no cost, just goes back to our WJD and travel bank

So with the new Canadian travel restrictions, if we want to go to Barbados, we have to get a PCR test prior to leaving Canada, then a PCR test prior to entering Canada, then another PCR test at the Canadian arrival airport, then quarantine until we get said airport PCR test results back?

Why would you need another PCR upon arriving back in Canada?

    Barbados full of the ‘vid?

Sounds like I hit the sweet spot for my trip in terms of minimal restrictions and testing.

Everyone arriving back in Canada needs another PCR test upon arrival. Only exception is coming from America.

The new testing requirements mean that all air travellers coming from outside Canada, with the exception of the United States, will now need to be tested at the airport when they land in Canada, on top of the existing pre-departure test requirement

    https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/corona...cron-1.5687538

So test to leave Canada, PCR to return to Canada, PCR upon landing in Canada, QT until results are in.

Why are passports offices so slow? They don't take walk-ins anymore so my wife had to wait for a callback for an appointment.

She got the call yesterday and her appointment isn't until the end of December.

Something something federal government something government employees something

Just got my return Covid tests for this weekend, got to love American healthcare. Had a compliant negative Covid test in 15 minutes. Didn’t even cost much more than a shoppers PCR test.

How many people do you think will be quarantining after taking three tests and knowing two of them are negative?

And it will probably wind up being an at home test that you have to mail in, there is no way airports have the space to test people as they get off flights. Just take your test home, do the video call, send it in and just go on with your life

There’s rapid PCR tests, I don’t understand why Canada is so incompetent. Why not just have rapid tests on arrival for all passengers. Results in a few hours. Done.

You’d think with 600 billion in pandemic spending that we could’ve used some money for this.

The problem with rapid tests for the government is the rapid part of them. You’re not going to deter travel by making it easy, hence the requirement to get a full PCR before coming back and now the requirement to stand around for hours in a packed airport to get another one and then go home to isolate, despite vaccination status. The government can’t enact the same bullshit Australia did, so they do this.

They make molecular rapid tests that meet the governments requirements. Took a NAAT test this afternoon with results in 15 minutes, fully compliant.

That doesn’t change the fact that testing requirements are being used as a way to deter people from travelling.
