Yeah it was definitely a red flag when I tried booking a WJ flight that their direct flight offering turned into a two stop pickup seat selectionThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yes, I have delayed trips due to concerns with the virus.
No, I am proceeding as planned with all travel.
Yes, but I will take precautions and still go.
The Corona threat is all a bunch of hogwash.

With that recent Amex post I’m really considering moving to air Canada as their point system is better than westjet when you do the math, westjet was going downhill pre pandemic

We're going to France in September and WJ is offering daily direct service to Paris. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried they might cancel one of the flights. My plan is to call and see which flights have the most people on them, and try to book those dates if they fit.
If they cancel a flight and don't refund you properly just do a CC charge back - I have done it already and it was easier and faster than trying to deal with WJ.
Quarantine lifted so might go to LGW or LHR for August.
Boris is moving to lift things soon
Most "entry level" tickets sold are non-refundable, and buyers are made aware of this at the time of purchase. Going up to a better fare will get you free cancellation, among other perks. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yeah AC does that and forces you to acknowledge that you read it but most people don’t and click click. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
WJ seat selection charge is annoying too but beggars can’t be choosers
Some cancellation can be free change once or credit
Right, but I think you can still switch flights or get credit for 'free'. CC companies also allow chargebacks if the airline gives you credit that expires, at least my CC does. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I've called them 3 days in a row and after ~4 hours on hold, someone picks up and hangs up on me. Their call back function doesn't seem to work either.
In AC, there's a level where it states you can't change or switch flights or get credit. Non-refundable. Then one type of fare is non-refundable but can change or switch.
I'll see if I can do a screenshot
EDIT: One free change my bad

My dad is flying back from Hong Kong this weekend. He is fully vaccinated so I think once his arrival COVID test in Calgary is negative he can go home. Anyone know how long he would likely have to wait at the airport for the arrival test results to come in before he can leave?
Isn’t the 3 day quarantine still in effect?

As far as I know he doesn't need to wait in the airport for the results. He would land, fill out all his contact information and do the covid test then can proceed home to isolate until he gets the test saying it's negative. Right now it's 24 hour or less turnaround time. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I don't think we're using rapid tests at the airport unless something has changed recently
So does that mean we need to purchase a preflight test when returning to Canada, then when back in Canada purchase another test? Essentially 3 tests per person for any international flight, 1 departure, 2 return?

For DP'd:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
PCR negative 72hrs before boarding.
PCR test on landing
Quarantine at home until landing test is negative.
For DP'd with partial/non vaccinated dependents:
PCR negative 72hrs before boarding
PCR test on landing
Quaratine at home for 14 days
PCR test again on day 8.

How do you know if it's a PCR test you've had? I checked on myHealth and it doesn't really say - unless I'm looking in the wrong place.
I'm reading through all the updated guidelines online and still can't quite figure out the process. It suggests that he register for arrival testing in advance. Since he's flying in from Hong Kong via Vancouver, does that mean he will be taking the arrival test in Vancouver and then continuing onto the Calgary? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I don't see anywhere on the new guidelines that says he can just go home and wait for test results. There also doesn't appear to be a 1-800 number I can call to ask.
Under the old rules, your port of entry is where you had to stay until cleared to continue to final destination if applicable
Appears no stopping is required
Those who meet the requirements may be exempt from:
quarantine
hotel stopover (for air travellers)
day-8 testing requirement

So the only thing that changed is the mandatory hotel quarantine... You still need to be tested which is $100-200(?) per test. Still a hassle to move around. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Thanks for clarifying I thought it was a free-for-all
EDIT: BC has been officially open to take oil money but unofficially dgaf long time ago

The application was super simple. I just told them I'm "such a cool guy" and that I have a very #SadLife.
The delay came from me having it sent directly to NoSoupForU's house, rather than my own. Thankfully, he was souper helpful and let me know right away.
