I don’t think it’s being selfish, just don’t be surprised if you are stuck there.
Turtling like this is what is going to put our economy in the tank.
Yes, I have delayed trips due to concerns with the virus.
No, I am proceeding as planned with all travel.
Yes, but I will take precautions and still go.
The Corona threat is all a bunch of hogwash.

I'm supposed to leave for Jamaica tomorrow. I hope I can still get out. I figure I'm better off down there on a deserted beach than here. Not really concerned if I get stuck down there for a while. I can work remotely.

Zero reported cases in a country with a super corrupt government that relies on tourism during winter months. Yeah, that definitely a legit number. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
100%. Mexico is very much not reporting their cases. Already one Canadian came back from Mexico with it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

In Mexico, no one dies from Covid because they are too busy dying from influenza.

So we have been planning to travel the world for a year and now our plans are getting severely revamped! We (my wife, my kid and me) leave mid August and our first destination is Brasil. We already have our flights booked but now someone at my work was saying the Prime Minister now has coronavirus. Have to look into what our options are now. We were also planning on a trip to Asia as well as many parts of Europe but now this also needs to be looked at.
We were both on a deferred salary program which means we are obligated to take a year off of work but with this being a global pandemic, our options seem so limited. I heard Lethbridge has been booming so maybe this will be an option.
Certainly not lost on me... Just trying to internally justify it! Few other items in out favor.. staying in a condo (not a big all inclusive with buffets) so worst case scenario we could self isolate in a warmer climate! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Better to be closed inside mexico than out. You'll be able to stay forever at your resort because no new guests will arrive. Live like a king baby!

Or they anoint you as thier new God, the only one who can save them? I'm sure you'd be required to father a bunch of children on all the fertile locals too. Glass half full bro. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I wouldn't want to be stuck in Mexico in the best of times, let alone right now.
My parents are cutting their snowbird season in Hawaii down by ~6 weeks and coming home soon. My dad's attempted to call and change his flight, obviously to no avail. Just going to book another online and abandon the original. That's a good place to be stuck if there's a travel ban, however they're in the higher risk group (early 60s) and on the off chance they do get it, the hospitals down there are garbage.
Have a boys trip to vegas in 3 weeks. The group chat went from "settle down guys" to "shit, cant cancel now anyway because the phones are jammed" in about 24h. At some point, we suspect airlines will cancel the flight son their own, and the refund policy might be more generous than if you voluntarily cancel first. Sound possible? I dunno.

Which airline is your flight booked with?
I am trying to get through to Singapore airlines right now to cancel my next week flight from London to Singapore. So far I am on the phone for 2 plus hours and waiting for an agent.
I am with @ExtraSlow I suspect the airlines will cancel the flights and their refunds will be little bit more generous than what they are offering now.
I wonder how many Canadians are outside of Canada at any one time
