It wasn't that good of a sale anyways
Yes, I have delayed trips due to concerns with the virus.
No, I am proceeding as planned with all travel.
Yes, but I will take precautions and still go.
The Corona threat is all a bunch of hogwash.

Apparently to get to Hawaii, you fly through San Francisco and get your test done there which is accepted in Hawaii. A friends brother owns a place in Hawaii and they just flew out over the weekend. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I like neat cars.
So how long it took for a result? So you have to plan a multiday layover at SFO?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Interesting - do you know if they have the 90 min tests or do you need to plan for a layover? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Last I checked though the Calgary --> Hawaii flights were pretty crappy, most had 18hr layovers in Denver. Really hoping they add more flights or the Canadian carriers can get onboard with an acceptable test.
The USA layover might be a benefit of you need the testing there anyway. Get test, drink American beer and have a meal, have a nap and you are good to go.

Yeah, I hope Westjet can set something up but not holding out hope since I don't know there is enough demand to sustain that route. With that pilot program in place, I wonder if they can send everyone in Canada interested thru YYC and make a go of it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Took forever, but my flight insurance finally came through and I was just emailed that my claim was approved and to expect a cheque. Filed in April and been going back and forth since. Fortunately I bought insurance before the pandemic was removed.
Results in 15 minutes and only costs $250 USD:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

With the new expedited testing at YYC airport for incoming international travellers, do you know if this is applicable to people that are coming from international but have to connect via another Province? E.g. Hong Kong to Calgary connecting via Van?
The way I understand it, Calgary will have to be your port of entry. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Logistically, I really doubt they can set this up at domestic terminal nor do they have the checkpoints to do so.
Hope this goes well enough that it's expands to other port of entry. But given how nervous BC and Ontario are, I really doubt it until numbers start to go the other way.
Oh that's awesome, I didn't know they were that fast yet. $250 is cheap too if it prevents a quarantine. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What's the consensus on Mexico?
Was checking out flights and a full week from Dec 7 to 14 at an all-inclusive is less than $1200pp for where I want to stay.
Pilot only counts if you stay in AB for a week, at least thats what an article said. Rapid test at the airport then you have to commit to a second test ~6 days laterThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Still prefer 1st world English speaking country if I do end up with COVID half way thru the trip. But my risk tolerance is low. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Ah, there goes my hope other part of the country can take advantage of YYC and hope of direct flight to Hawaii out of Calgary is any sort of frequency.
Is Alberta resentment still prevalent n in BC? Slashing tires and stuff?
No I think Alberta has nearly forgiven BC.

From what was explained on 770 today the testing in Calgary is: test when landed, then you are to immediately quarantine until results (up to 48 hours) and then you must return for a retest to confirm immediately if you are negative.
Man I've been itching to get out somewhere and prices are obviously enticing. That being said I don't see me going anywhere until everything somewhat gets back to 'normal'. Pretty sure our decade long tradition of yearly winter-break trips with the whole family to various islands/cruises will also need to be canceled.
