It'd probably be far too much but I wonder if we could get to the point where every returning passenger for flights takes a covid test. YYC stats say currently 300k passengerper month (down from ~1.2 mill pre-covid). So that's roughly 5,000 people per day arriving at Calgary .... a bit more expanded testing and that could be feasible to do.

Might even be less because of layovers actually.
That's why those licking covid strip would have been handy. Flight attendants hand them out like custom forms 15min before landing, only for people who has left the country for more than 4 days. You lick and the result determine your fate at entry.

I was thinking licking covid strip was something far dirtier...

That would be brilliant, Or offer a test at the airport, go home, wait 24 hours...negative, go back to life...positive 14 day quarantine. I would be happy to pay a few hundred dollars for airport testing to not have to quarantine

If the schools get shut down I could see us jumping on a plane to hit Mexico @ Christmas time. If the kids are going to be stuck at home anyway why not get some sun?

Would you need supplemental travel health insurance to cover COVID or would typical plans will cover it?

the travel health insurance from my company specifically excludes any covid-related costs. Make sure you clarify this with your provider.

That's one of the things we would need to look into but I recently saw somewhere a travel insurance option that specifically advertised Covid coverage. Step one is getting the schools closed down though.

Truthfully though a week in Mexico isn't worth that.

The biggest worry I would have with travel to Mexico would be developing a sniffle and not being allowed back on the plane and getting stranded.

At least with a trip to the US you could get back to the border easily enough...

^^This. Looking like any exotic travel will be limited to Devonian Gardens or the zoo.

Book your timed entry tickets to the zoo ahead of time. Don't just show up, or you'll be disappointing your girlfriend, just like you disappoint your parents. .

Yea I had a flight booked to NS for thanksgiving but I cancelled that since they aren’t backing down on the 14 day quarantine for people outside of their maritime bubble.

I have less than no problems getting on a flight right now.
you arent kidding me. I was supposed to be going to St johns for a work project representing the Canadian Government. still couldnt get the 14 day bouble waived. Crazy times.
