I’m gonna try this today... ask for a refund to original payment method, remind them that laws supersede policy, record the denial, then request chargeback for services not rendered
What law? I'll call WJ if I can get more details.

Already have a gripe open with RBC.
They took away my multi product rebate and have begun charging me monthly account fees as of April. I guess I know how they're planning on "helping everyone out".

Has anyone been successful in getting full refund for flights booked that were cancelled?
Had paid with my Avion Visa. Got cancellation insurance with that card but email goes to black hole and calling means waiting forever.
yeah I called Westjet to cancel my international flight 2 weeks ago, and they refunded to my credit card directly. They said since the flight was cancelled outright due to the travel restrictions by the feds I would get a refund. When I booked them I used the Econo fare, so I had cancellation for a fee, though they waived the fee and gave me full refund anyway. All my vouchers I had used were also put back on my account...

How aggressive did you have to get? Called and got the run around that company policy is this a credit at this time and she's never heard of such "air passenger protection regulations" .
Refunds processed at a later date. I think I'll call again.

Fuck me, I'm never aggressive in getting refunds so I just took the credit without thinking...am I SOL even though they're preparing a class action lawsuit for this?

Heard from rbc insurance and they're starting my claim.
Anyone with rbc file the online form and they'll eventually get in touch.
I'm awaiting some of their paperwork and details in writing before I call westjet again and have them cancel my travel credit.

The insurance adjuster knows full well that airlines are handing everyone credits. They know I'll have to refute the credit before the claim gets processed. So don't lie and say you didn't get one.

How do I get a face mask that's an exact copy of my face then?

I'm lucky that the Canmore nightmare ended better for us. We were forced to cancel about 1-2 weeks before arrival. Booking was in friend's name and esteemed VRBO owner refused to grant full refund. It was going to cost us $1100 for nothing!
We appealed to VRBO who told us that 95% of owners were offering full refunds due to THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC but they came back and said "nope, he's still refusing, so you're SoL."
A very unreasonable number of weeks later, (it was supposed to be 2-3 biz days) the refund finally came and it turned out to be 100% !! No explanation.

So, that's how Wataga Properties and owner Glen Hayhoe roll. Draw your own conclusions from this experience.

This seems like something they should have implemented at the beginning.

Like maybe before they told everyone to not wear masks because it made it worse?

Masks, not of the N95 variety, seem to be in stock in quite a few places. Walmart has them online: Here

A face covering will suffice. Got a rag and a safety pin? You've got a mask.

Yup although just to be clear most of those are drop shipping from China anyways. Likely the same odds of getting good masks on Aliexpress tbh.

These are 50cents USD per mask with free fedex or dhl shipping. Would prob arrive before Walmart order I'd wager.

Just got an email from WestJet saying our flight on May long weekend to Vancouver Island was cancelled. They automatically put a credit in the travel bank and state they are not offering refunds. Tried to call and it said there was a 6 hour wait. Tried the call back option and it just kept telling me I was pushing an invalid number. Ugh...

I just received a similar email from WestJet for my May long trip from Edmonton to Vancouver. Still have direct flights, they were just changed. They have the option to accept or cancel and refund but the cancel and refund option doesn't seem to be working.

I am not too worried about the flight. They annoying thing is the vrbo that won't give me money back. Definitely makes me think when things start up again I will be doing more hotels and less vrbo since hotels don't take your money up front and have better cancellation policies.

So finally got an email about the canceled May flight. States not refunding to original payment method. Called RBC (WJ world elite) to dispute charge (even though it’s waay older than 45 days) temp credit posted in 3-4 weeks, WJ gets 10 weeks to challenge. Burden of proof is firing off RBC that email and also reinforcing it with screen shots from app showing flight canceled, the cancellation screen in the app (that shows a $100 cancellation fee.. again!) and also my empty travel bank showing they didn’t even bother giving me the credit the email says I receive.
