Just had my first test this year and both my daughter and I are symptomatic so will be interesting to see if we have the vid or not. Problem is I also have flights to Vancouver booked for next week. If we are negative somehow and its just a cold and the symptoms are gone before next friday do we still go or not? WWBD?
If you test negative then you're not legally obligated to isolate although the BC rules are isolate until you feel better, even with a negative test... so would depend if you feel better by next Friday I guess. But if you're both symptomatic then .... hopefully the tests comes back negative.

... How on earth did we ever function as a society before Covid.

If you're negative, get on with your life and enjoy.

Well at least Ed Sims has acknowledged the issue. I can respect a ceo who can admit they fucked up and shows a bit of humility. Should be back to “normal” by end of august according to him

Interesting - not a word about the biggest problem though which seems to be making people the angriest which would be their flight credit farming.

Canada’s vaccine policy is fucking with my wedding again, some guests had AZ for their first round and many others (self included) have phizer/moderna mix. No clear answer on what the policy will be if we travel in October to Hawaii

That doesn't sound like a Canada vaccine policy issue, more of a US vaccine policy issue.

Canadian vaccine policy decided mixing was okay because we sucked at securing enough, and provincial policy won’t allow anyone to just buy another dose of matching vaccine to get the magic “2 of the same brand”

I believe US will recognize two mRNA mixed doses but not AZ/mRNA

We had to cancel our Hawaii trip for 2022 because of the AZ/MRNA mix not being clear. I wish that the province would hurry up and allow us to get a booster of what ever MRNA we have. Or if the USA said AZ was ok.

AZ is seeking full approval, not emergency use. So it will be approved at some point.

Fortunately for me, our Maui flights are fully refundable aeroplan, and the condo has a Covid related full refund cancellation policy, so we don't need to cancel anything until we get closer to Feb.

I'm not going to blame Canada for trying to get the population as vaccinated as possible. The US denying vaccines/combinations recognized by the rest of the world is ridiculous though.

So if you're hybrid, you have to quarantine in USA when you get there?

I think mid 2022 will be the time where things are clearer for traveling beyond the country borders. Right now, we're pioneering our way through, not dying of dysentery.

Fastest jabs in arms was correct decision for canada. Travel restrictions are a tertiary issue to worry about. But yeah don't book any non-refundable travel this year. My USA trip in October is all fully refundable. Not interested in quarantine for any length of time in either direction.

If we refund, will just head to Canmore or something. Go spend the days in a hotel pool.

I dont believe there is any quarantine requirement for the US at all regardless of vaccine level

Has anyone had any luck getting re-booking credit deadlines changed?

We had a trip cancelled in March of 2019, which our flights were booked on points via cc. Initially they said we had 2 years to rebook... and everything had to be booked at once. (No using 1/2 now and 1/2 later) Not sure whether I want to go through the hassle of booking something right now to possibly cancel again.

Check on their policy again. I had a bunch of travel credits with Westjet and AC. Asked BMO travel again in March 2021 and got them refunded vs credits they originally gave. Nice thing was I even paid points initially but got cash back.

    Ugh.

Called Amex, they said you have to go through Westjet. Went on the WJ website and chat, and if booked through 3rd party, you have to go through them for credit/refund information. Back to chatting with Amex.

Lucky me, since 1 ticket was Amex and 3 were with Mastercard I have to go through this twice.

Got a hold of Amex... credit is actually with WJ, so not sure if thats a positive thing or not.
That happened before. Try and keep on top of things. I had a dispute with FlightHub because of a United flight and got credits and full refund from United but got sent to FlightHub. So I opened a dispute with VISA and on them regularly to get those. Got it back but it took a while and this was pre-pandemic.

It might be different because you used points by the sounds of it, but I have just been doing chargebacks on my CC. The "credit" the airlines gives you expires, so it's not real money and my CC company agrees. It was a whole lot less hassle than dealing with the major airlines in any capacity.

Sounds like I am in the dispute process now via the CC since everything expires in December of this year. Gotta wait for 6-8 weeks for a refund to hopefully arrive on my account. Sounds like this is all pretty standard now, which takes a load off my back trying to book something before Dec 31.
