Yes, I have delayed trips due to concerns with the virus.
No, I am proceeding as planned with all travel.
Yes, but I will take precautions and still go.
The Corona threat is all a bunch of hogwash.

$65 for this flight and same coming home, or pay ~$110 for the econoflex tier to get seat selection, basically just strong arming you into spending another $100+ per person if you want to sit with your partner, what a joke.
How long is the flight? If it's a few hours or less, who cares, just sit wherever. 9 times out of 10 someone will move so you can sit together if you ask them nicely and aren't giving them a middle seat. If it's a 6++ hour flight I can understand wanting to sit together and then the seat selection also becomes more worth it.
Everyone wants cheaper fares so the airlines make the fares as cheap as possible while having every little extra thing a separate cost, so it feels like more of a rip off than if it was just included in the fare in the first place. We just don't bother reserving seats unless it's a super long flight and most of the time we get to sit together anyway.

It's to and from Kauai so 6+ hours there and a little less coming home, sitting together is needed because wife demands.
Can afford it's just dumb that westjet doesn't allow seat selection even at 24 hours prior to check in any more, so it feels like a kick to the balls. Flights aren't even that cheap compared to what I've paid in the past.
Fair enough. To Kauai I'd probably just pay it. You could even look at just upgrading to premium economy if you're going to be paying extra, at least that way you will get something for your money even though it would be more. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
How did you find a car? We really wanted to go in October but could not find a car less than $2,000 USD.
I'm very jealous.
Trip isn't until the end of January, thus I was asking if anyone knew about westjet extending their covid cancellation/change fee situation, if things go sideways thanks to Covid then we'll need to cancel...I'm trying to decide to book now or wait a bit and see if flights drop. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Rental car situation is pretty fucked for Hawaii, hoping it somehow improves in the next few months otherwise will bite the bullet. Costco travel quoting ~$1000USD for the little over a week we'd need a car, pretty terrible in comparison to having a convertible mustang for 2 weeks at $800USD for our last trip.
Rental car situation isn't fixing itself for a long time. Not for at least 6 months.

I hearing not being poor is a good attribute in living a fun life. I wonder what that’s like
After a lot of back and forth with Amex and Westjet, there is nothing I can do besides use or lose the credit I have that expires Dec 31st from a vacation lost due to Covid. Apparently because I cancelled the flight on March 16th and WestJet cancelled the entire flight March 18th, I am only able to get a credit. Not very happy... now to start looking at vacation ideas.
Don't they still have free cancellation? Could you not book something and then just cancel it to get new credits (I have no idea if this would work)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Hawaii date #4 is looking less likely now, rumblings on the island of lockdowns getting announced next week so I get to hypothesize into the future again and get wedding guests to rebook. I’ll wait until early September (mid-October arrival) but I’m not seeing promising signs currently.

we decided to cancel our Oahu trip for Novemver just last week, with all that is happening right now and an unvaccinated toddler we figured staying local is the safest bet. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
