Everything about The China sounds great and I definitely am not in support of taking as many steps as reasonably practicable to stop spending money there, as fast as possible.
Yes, I have delayed trips due to concerns with the virus.
No, I am proceeding as planned with all travel.
Yes, but I will take precautions and still go.
The Corona threat is all a bunch of hogwash.

In the process of getting our ducks in a row before our trip in a couple weeks from now, for those of you on here that have traveled to the US recently, the 24 covid test has to be within 24 hours of your first flight on your itinerary, not the actual flight to the US, right?
As we go from Calgary to Vancouver then into the US, so getting our test done within 24 hours of our flight to Vancouver is sufficient correct?
Going off this is how I'm interpreting things - https://travel.state.gov/content/tra..._US_Entry.html
However just looking to avoid any last minute surprises
It should be from time of first flight.
I've only been asked for vaccination status at time of check-in, then handed complete ticket itinerary (but only flown across the border on the initial flight too...)
That was my experience. Border patrol on either the Canadian or American sides didn’t even ask. They seem to be trusting the airlines to play gatekeeper.

If you are going to Hawaii soon, get your booster.
https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/hawaii-...ster-1.5742492
State Governor David Ige told reporters that his office is strongly considering changing its definition of "fully vaccinated" from two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine to three.
That would mean that travellers who have not had booster shots will have to isolate for five days upon arrival in Hawaii at their own expense.
I'm headed that way on the 27th, glad we got our boosters before the new year for that very reason.
Trivial though as unvaccinated Americans can still go to Hawaii if they submit a negative covid test.
Also thanks for verifying my assumptions, just wanted to double check regarding the first flight is what matters for the time frame.
AZ, Pfizer then Moderna to get boosted.
Is that good enough or am just in Vtec mode and no turbo?
It’s 1 calendar day before the flight. Not 24 hours. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Never been asked for the test to the usa. Always asked for the test home.

Looks like Westjet extended the free change or cancellation flight until Feb 28 now.
Sitting in the westjet lounge at the moment, showed up early because rona but was hella dead at security, strolled right through.
For those that went to Hawaii, did you have to register at the Hawaii Safe Travels site?
https://travel.hawaii.gov/#/
I created one just in case but curious if you guys had to show it
Not since they changed the rules in early November. Unless you are transiting through the United States.
They aligned the rules for international travellers to be same as to anywhere in the United States.
Basically they gave me a piece of paper after getting off the plane that said I was exempt “WESTJET”
Thank god for that because the safe travels line was insane.

In Hawaii at the moment, we flew through Vancouver on our way here through westjet so we didn't have to participate in Safe Travels. If you connect through another state on your way to Hawaii then you do have to participate in it as you're seen as an international domestic traveler to Hawaii.
Got our rapid tests done at shoppers the evening before we flew out, basically a joke as we literally pointed to the word 'Negative' to the westjet lady working the gate for our flight to Hawaii and that was it. Off the plane and right to baggage claim.
Just got our covid tests done this morning for our return flight, paid extra to get a rapid NAAT test done and had the results in 30 minutes, peace of mind that there wouldn't be any surprises if we waited for 48 hour PCR test results.
Flew back today, nice direct flight from Lihue to Calgary.
Checked our bags in at LIH, gals working the desks asks to show them our arrive can barcode, proof of vaccination, and return covid tests...held up each, they said we were good to go. They never asked to see the negative test results or read anything, we basically just waved it in the air and that was it.
Customs in Calgary was insanely quick, the usual what did you do and what did you bring back, and we were on our way. Grabbed our bags and we were done. Some people were getting directed for a quick covid test though, random selection.
Overall for our experience to and from, the covid testing is a complete waste of money if no one from the airline, TSA or Canadian border is actually looking at anything. Could just be our luck of the draw? But it all seemed pointless outside of knowing we didn't have covid...to which was no surprise on account of we self quarantined before the trip, and then wore N95's and stuck to ourselves while in Hawaii.
The only annoying part of traveling is the PCR test requirement to return back to Canada. Everyone else is pretty chill.
Planning for a summer Euro trip.
Hey can someone point me to the government policy for travelers with previous positive test? Have a family member who just tested positive and who goes to the USA for work, and they aren't good with teh intarwebz.
Let time I asked them they were trying to get a doctors note, which sounds different than I heard previously.
