Will keep that in mind! I actually know very little about van’s restaurant scene.
I wish Aberdeen Mall was my +15 lunches.

Do people really think this will suffice as “evidence”? An undescriptive screen that doesn’t even have my name on it?

Seriously. It contains so little information I don’t even mind posting it on the internet.

I can’t wait to have to justify that to an underpaid service worker every time I feel like some McNuggets.

My guess is the original vaccination reports you got when you had your shots are the only “evidence” that will suffice.
Tapping the back arrow shows your name in the top right. So can't see why it wouldn't be accepted

You think a piece of paper that anyone can copy and chicken scratch on will be preferential to a registered user health account with AHS? Realistically this is a smoke and mirrors show. The point is not to actually confirm that you have been vaccinated, it's to appear that the government cares and is doing something. I'm guessing most 16 year old restaurant hostesses would barely glance if you flashed them a pack of gum, and then take you to your seat.

Seems that for travel to the USA by air, there's no requirement to show any kind of vaccination record. Just have to the pre-flight testing and show negative result. The requirement for returning to Canada is where your vaccination status matters I think.

Regarding travel plans being impacted, I think my family is going to cancel out planned October trip to California, as we have one kid too young to be vaccinated, and we don't like the risk profile with airplane/leisure travel at this time. we made sure to book everything on fully refundable fares for just this reason.

^That's too bad. Probably the right choice for you though.

My friend went to Portugal without vax. I'm not sure if she lied or will need to lie upon return or Vax or isolate. I'm eager to hear.

I'm disappointed, but particularly for a family vacation, I think we wouldn't enjoy ourselves in the current environment. Several rounds of testing for kids, and many hours of mandatory masking, just don't sound relaxing or fun. So we'll postpone.

I was thinking something similar to Arizona in October but the boogie man of kiddo not being allowed in daycare for 14 days afterward is too spooky to me.

Would be totally fucked on the way back in to Canada if a test went sideways.

Still planning on going to Vancouver Island this month. Will suck to have to deal with vaccine passports and not quite sure how it will work with kids, but willing to wing it since we aren’t crossing international borders.

If we were going to the US instead I’d probably be seriously considering canceling.

The return test is concerning too.

Hilarious, we had decided to cancel, but hadn't yet. WestJet just cancelled our flights this afternoon. No option to rebook a different time, just a complete cancellation. Ah well that makes it easy to stick with our decision.

Yup. The app is slow as balls, and that wasn’t in a stadium with 20k people lines up

This is an example of a positive sign from God. You deserve it!

If he rearranged your pasta, that'd be a sign that you should delete your account, throw your devices in the river and cut the webs between your fingers. You don't deserve that.

Any chain pharmacy can do it for you (ex. Shoppers) ; believe they're $40

for those with unvaccinated kids, what's your plan if for some reason they catch covid in the plane or while outside of the country?

this was the main reason we decided to cancel our Hawaii trip.

have a coworker travelling with her 2 daughters to Phoenix later this November too though.

Plan is too strong of a word. If you catch covid, you stay in the country you are visiting until everyone in your party is recovered and can provide negative tests. So if that's the USA, no worries as they have great healthcare. If that's shitholeistan, then it could get wild.

Entry requirement for the USA: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...travelers.html
Return to Canada requirement for Canadian citizens: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid

Big one for return to Canada is you MUST have the ArriveCan app on your phone. I haven't gone through the process so I don't know many details.

Would health insurance somehow suddenly not cover them?

it would but then you might need to book additional time off from work, or extend your stay in the country/US so costs will add up.
