How about training or conferences within Alberta? Anyone involved with any cancellations there?
I have one I am planning to attend next week, but no notice on whether it is cancelled or not, yet.
One small conference in Edmonton I know of has been cancelled because the keynote speaker isn't traveling right now. That will probably be one of the bigger impacts for local conferences in the short term.

Well my son's trip to Taiwan is on again for April 1 at the moment, I am heading to NYC in 2 weeks, then St. Kitts, then Miami. Having to go through Toronto twice during it.

At the moment my biggest fear is not getting home to see my son off as there's only a day in between.

Don't you have to pretty well be on your death bed for travel insurance to pay out? .
My Visa travel insurance paid out 2 years ago for just a blown eardrum. Just needed a doctor's note as proof.

West Jet is now allowing free cancellations, not just flight re-bookings. They also said they are disinfecting every plane between flights including galleys and tray tables.

Going to Disneyland in May, only the WestJet flight so far is paid for though. We will buy tickets in late April if Disneyland doesn’t close.

Nice. I'd still do my own cleaning of the seat/belts/trays/armrests, etc. but it's comforting to know they are at least taking extra measures. Presumably the staff are slightly concerned as well given their proximity to people all day, so they are likely taking it seriously.

The dirtiest place of a plane seat is the head rest and seat-back pocket (where people put dirty diapers). After that it's the tray table.

Hopefully Air Canad follows suit. I have a US trip I wanna cancel but it was through flighthub. Air Canada -> Alaska air to get there and then Delta the way back. Gonna be a pain to cancel and guessing Alaska/Delta will just give me credits which idk when I'll use

FlightHub is a nightmare to deal with if you need anything, but I have used them several times in the past as well because they had the best flight prices. I was trying to do a seat upgrade to NZ and the runaround I got was so ridiculous I gave up. I hope you have better luck with them or don't get bent over too bad for canceling.

This will probably be my first bad experience. Most of the other times they've been good to deal with, once a flight got cancelled and they rebooked me without any hassle on a similar flight right away.

Gonna be call flighthub, then probably individual airlines I guess, then maybe my travel insurance and then my cc seeing if anything is covered

Cancellation policies I've seen don't cover all trips. Depends when you booked and/or when you fly.

Fuck FlightHub. My parent's trip to the Caribbean got canceled due to hurricane and they called their CC company to action trip cancellation insurance. While United provided credits to compensate, it got issued to FlightHub and FH wouldn't surrender them unless my parents drops the trip cancellation case with the CC holder

Spoke too soon, SPE’s Calgary heavy oil and unconventional conference next week is now cancelled.

Flighthub is the worst with cancellations. They make it so difficult to use the credit/rebook so they can keep the funds. Use flight hub to find the cheap flights and then book directly with the carrier. It is very rare that a carrier won't provide the same price.

Early February I got lucky with the Sell Off Vacations error prices to London ($247 direct/return flight to Gatwick) and I'm supposed to leave in 13 days but with Westjet now offering cancellations I think I'm going to cancel this trip due to the virus. I don't want to end up in London for my first time and not be able to do all the touristy shit.

Haha we should, I’m definitely free. And I like cheap coffee to boot.

I figured it was a matter of time.

I have a conference in Edmonton that surprisingly is not cancelled.
