I think it's amusing no one is raising a stink about our government rescuing trapped people in other countries right now because they're mostly white people....

Or because unlike previous instances, this is a major worldwide thing. "Rescuing" dual citizenship people from their homeland because of civil unrest is ridiculous.

    You think there'll be a post-quarantine sale?

Is it because you're racist or because the government is?

My major travelling decisions now are to Costco, Walmart, and Superstore.
Co-Op and Sobey are much less stressful. At this point all I need is fresh produce and fruits.

I fly to Van Isle for business about ever 60 days. I postponed things off by a few weeks until things here in the city stabilize (due to crazy work load).

The NON STOP flights from here to Nanaimo (and im sure, elsewhere) are becoming more and more difficult to find. What used to be a 90 min flight from YYC to YCD now becomes a 5-6 hour odyssey through Edmonton or YVR.

I think that WJ and others are spacing people out in the cabin. Thats why flights are filling up quicker.

Co-ops definitely the play. Went last thursday morning and the store was fully stocked. Full produce, TP was available, frozen foods section was plentiful and not too busy.

It definitely costs more but at this point I'd rather just to one trip to a quiet store and go home. Not worth the stress / social interaction to deal with the bigger stores (though thats eating for 1; with a family the cost savings would be a lot higher)

IF (and it's a big IF) a family manages to maintain full income through this, there are a lot of costs that have vanished too. Paying 10-20% more for groceries is NBD when you are saving $1000/mo on childcare and kids activities

Even as a single person I'm noticing that currently. 0$ eating out / drinks with friends / going to shows / entertainment etc. Not spending anything on gas. If I manage to get through this while still working I think I'll save a decent chunk.

We are not seeing any savings from this so far. We have a 1yo at home so already not spending anything on shows/night outs before the outbreak. Right now our 'eat-out' budget is on track to double or even triple. We are sick of cooking 3 meals at home and all the grocery store runs, as well as bored of eating our own food. With all the pick-up discounts and family meal deals all the restaurants are offering, we found ourselves ordering take out at least every second day. This more than offsets whatever we are saving from gas or gym membership or dog daycare.

Why don't you just cook once and stretch it?

Sounds like you just need recipes.

Exactly. The wife and I cooked 3 meals in under 2 hours yesterday and we are set for the week.

We try to but when my wife sees stuff like this ( https://www.instagram.com/p/B-U4wt5J3h9/ ) she rather order instead of eating the same meal 3 days in a row. The justification is supporting local businesses hah

We also tend to meal prep lunch for a few days in a row (I'm still eating a ramen broth I made 4 days ago) but when it comes to dinner time, we/she want something 'different'.

My wife would love that. I rather not eat leftovers all the time, so we're often cooking fresh suppers at least haha.
