Here I thought “the problem with the rapid tests was the rapid part of them”
Yes, I have delayed trips due to concerns with the virus.
No, I am proceeding as planned with all travel.
Yes, but I will take precautions and still go.
The Corona threat is all a bunch of hogwash.

I applied for my kids passports through the mail - sent the package 2 weeks ago and Im still waiting for them to come back. Unsure what the hold up - or anticipated wait time is. business days.
Does anyone know if passport numbers are required for booking international flights on westjet? Im not looking forward to flying with the whole family during covid time, I was hoping this was going to be over before xmas this year.
Also does anyone think we will ever not be flying with masks ever again? I feel like its just going to be a 9/11 type restriction thats never going away.

According to a pissed off Canadian stuck in SA when calling embassy for help, they threw shade and ask why they are traveling under pandemic. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This latest move is about stopping people taking Christmas trips.
Has anyone gone through the new rule regarding being tested upon landing in Canada and having to quarantine until you get the results? How fast is the turn around?
Came back from Jamaica last night and there was no mandatory testing or quarantine mentioned for all passengers. It's mandatory randomized testing and no need to quarantine waiting on results. After submitting immigration paperwork in the machine we handed the paper to the CBSA officer and he said my wife had been selected for a random test once we get our bags and exit the customs hall. Once we exited they said if you were selected get in line for your test otherwise you can leave (didn't have to show that I wasn't selected to leave). Wife was through testing in 15 minutes but there wasn't much of a line. As she was waiting it got pretty backed up and people were just leaving. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We were out of the airport within 50 minutes of landing but I think we got lucky as it did get backed up after us.
Technically we have had randomized testing for months.
The new international testing requirements haven’t fully rolled out yet is what I have heard.
Saw a couple people from US destinations get sent for the randomized testing last night.

Figured I would write a post as to what my experience was with travelling, spent the last week in Maui. Flew WJ connecting through Vancouver.
System wouldn’t let me check in online, couldn’t get a clear answer as to why that was (same Coming back). At check in I had to show my Antigen Test, Vaccine Records, passports nexus etc. this was the first and ONLY time anything Covid test/vaccine related came up. The check in agent made a few marks on my boarding pass to indicate these checks had been done as well they make notes in the system that they have checked.
US customs in Vancouver, Nexus/passports were all they wanted to see. Couldn’t have given two shits about my test results, WestJet was the only gatekeeper in this regard.
On the planes, they talked a big game about mask usage. Wear your mask unless you are literally tasking a sip of a drink or a bite of food and right back on after. In practice they didn’t seem gaf, but that may have been a consequence of my cabin. I would no personally rely upon “have a drink in front of you and no mask”, I did see them scold a few people a couple of times.
Once in Hawaii, got a piece of paper that said I was “WestJet” and not required to go through hawaiis special travel system, which looked like a nightmare (US Domestic arrivals only, I highly recommend you do NOT transit through the US to Hawaii for this reason).
Restaurants wanted to see vaccine record and masking was same as here.
Way back, again WestJet was the only gatekeeper for anything Covid. Showed them my NAAT and my Vaccine records at check in and those were never checked again. Canadian customs didn’t even ask or ask to see my ArriveCAN and handed me some boilerplate pamphlet, however I did see some people get handed a different pamphlet and needed to go for a Covid test on arrival in Vancouver. Again I used Nexus lanes so maybe that helped me.
Once I was in the system I didn’t need to show vax records again, including when I spent yesterday evening outside of the pre clearance area. 0 fucks given.
It was actually pretty easy. I kept preparing my testing and vax records and never got asked. I think they have realized that asking for records 3-4 times over a trip would cause insane backlogs.

Do they look at your Alberta vax "proof" strangely in AmericaTown?
Had to explain to a couple that I didn’t have a CDC Vax Card but was relatively painless.
I only got asked for my records in town as well, the resorts didn’t gaf.

I haven't used it but I'd hope that you input your flight number and the airlines or customs would have it tied together so when you scan your boarding pass at the airport / check in that it would flag you if you haven't filled it outThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. It is tied to your passport. I drove down to Montana and back a couple of weeks ago and forgot to fill it out. I almost had to turn around and go back in to the US to fill it out before they would let me in. I had some taxes to pay though so was able to get it done whilst they got that all sorted out. It has a bunch of questions about your vax status, where you're staying, if you can quarantine there, who else lives with you etc.
Wait, now they're shoving a finger in your ass to verify info checks? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The idea that someone is tying all this together in the background seems hilariously naive to me

I'm sure the government is paying an entire IT department to do that. I'm also sure that entire department is playing MMOrpg's instead. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
