    People are travelling EVERYWHERE.
Take a look, a few Mexico flights returning to Calgary in a few minutes.
Doubt these are all empty flights.

@The_Rural_Juror , I wish there was a more interesting back story for you. Sorry.

Also with this UCP gatherings announcement today it looks like I might have to put my Christmas travel to Alberta plans on the shelf. Bleh.

Not sure if this belongs here but you guys probably saw the Air Canada 10% off gift card promo. My parents are planning to fly Air Canada early next year so figured might as well buy some gift cards now for them.

So this morning I purchased Two (2) gift cards, one for $2000 and one for $500. My CC company immediately notified me via text that both charges were made . However I didn't receive any email confirmation / receipt from Air Canada for the purchases. Later my parents received the $500 gift card and I got an email saying one of the order is cancelled. I have no idea which one is cancelled since I never got the order confirmations/receipts. Easy to deduce since I bought the giftcards for myself, but if I had actually purchased these for a friend then there's no way I would've known which one.

I called the Air Canada giftcard line to check and to ask for receipts / proof of purchase. To my surprise the agent said they do not provide receipts (!!! is this legal?). I asked how would I know if I made that purchase if I don't even get a confirmation and she just resend me the $500 giftcard itself. She said that's the only thing they send out (the giftcard) and they do not provide anything else. After some back and forth she agreed to ask the supervisor to follow-up in 24 hours to see if they can send me a receipt. How does this even make sense?

Onto the $2000 one. I asked why the order was cancelled and she said it wasn't cancelled as the system say it's processing. Asked if it's normal that it's still being processed after 12 hours and she said no. So i asked how would I know if it's cancelled, especially since my CC company said the charges were already made, and she said I will get an email notification. I said I already got the cancellation email and she didn't have anything to say but confirmed it's not cancelled as the system shows it's processing. After many back and forth she just told me to call back tomorrow to check again. Then I asked if she can also request the supervisor to send me the receipt for this one (processed or cancelled) and she said no because it's still processing and nothing can be done, even though I got a cancellation email.

Anyway... It all feels like such a scam. I have never made purchases online (especially when we are talking $2500) and not get any proof of payments, and the whole payment authorized, but processing but also cancelled deal is so sketch.

What's everyone's thoughts on Cancun in Feb over Valentine's? Is it safe? The Westjet website makes it sound like COVID doesn't even exist there LOL...I'm very skeptical of Mexico's numbers. The fact that they don't require a quaratine or testing is enough of a red flag for me.

Neither my wife or I are high risk but I still don't want to get it. And I also worry about hospital capacity if we get injured or sick from something else.

Talk to your travel health insurance provider first of all to see if you have coverage.

A company whose existence depends on selling you trips is making it sound like covid doesn't exist. Hmm....

At least 1,300 flights with potential COVID-19 exposure in Canada since September
Comes down to your risk tolerance I guess.

Probably going to be another year of no flights anywhere for my family in terms of vacation.

Also, Sidney NS now has zero scheduled passenger flights. Hard on folks from Cape Breton, but not in any way surprising.

I’m planning on Scottsdale April/May if the situation is anywhere improved. Theoretically Halifax October.

    Boring.

TIL my Delta credit from early 2020 cancellation is now good til end of 2022 instead of expiring now. They also waived the cancellation fee.

    That ain't bad.

According to this, my parents should be vaccinated by May and I will be by Sept. So your assessment is fine.

If you want to be mad about people asking others to make sacrifices they themselves are unwilling to make:

People skiing at Whistler thing other people skiing at Whistler are being reckless.

An article about BC tourism, without a single mention of us terrible, horrible Albertans? Truly the end is nigh.

Anyone who works in whistler, should shut the fuck up about tourists. That town is sustained by tourism, and not just from Vancouver.

Is BC actually going to accomplish locking the BC AB border down?
If anything, lock down the international flights first.

Red plates are easier and more politically correct to identify as non resident versus asians in Vancouver.

It’s not about making a difference, it’s about finding the correct group to blame.

Lock down? Sounds like secession to me.

B.C.’s premier says he’s looking at what can be done to prevent Canadian visitors from other provinces from coming here.
Just Canadians. Americans and Chinese welcome.
