. Letters, March 31: 'Why is WestJet resuming flights?'

    THAT’S NOT RIGHT
COVID cases are rising, we are told not to travel, do not gather, do not visit your neighbour, businesses are still closed, others are on restrictions, but WestJet has announced it is resuming flights. So that’s OK to go to the airport and come in contact with numerous people before you even get on the plane, and then you sit squashed in your seat inches from the next person for hours, how is that okay?

They've always been butthurt, but now they have a very tall soapbox.

I haven’t been but looking at heading that way in the next few weeks. You can get a vaccine down there too.

The way that website reads I think you'd need to be from Nevada?

Nowhere does it list any requirements for ID or anything and the booking tool doesn't list address as a required field so I'd assume its just an honor system and they just want to get as many people through as possible. Given the US supposedly had a significant number of undocumented people I'd imagine they aren't particularly concerned about ID as they just want to get everyone their shot as fast as possible.

Anecdotal experience from people I know in AZ who have done it: call to book at local Walgreens, show up for appointment, check id to confirm age for eligibility ( they dgaf if you are Canadian ), get shot, have shot 2 booked. Repeat.

    YMMV by state.

Not lately but I'm kinda bored of that place unless you are attending an event. When dollar was on par, it was a great shopping destination tho.

The only thing that interest me at this point is probably a Golden Knight playoff game there.

I mean, the only reason you go to Vegas is the entertainment.

It’s a street in the middle of the dessert. You aren’t there for the sights haha, well not the traditional type of sights anyway

I’ve explained this to my wife, go to Vegas with nothing planned to do you are going to have a bad time. You go to spend money to enjoy yourself that’s it.

    I don’t really get “shopping”.

It's interesting at the very least. Before Amazon was a thing, used to geek out at Fry's during CES. Pretty good concentration of high end stuff on the strip. I don't get it by watching my EX's eyes lights up means it works for someone. Watching Chinese tourists going thru outlets like locust and shipping all the stuff back to China was amusing and baffling, enough that they have to post item limits so stores won't be cleaned out of products.

My parents got the vaccine in Palm Springs... had to show ID, but no charge. They were told to call around 3pm in case there were no shows, and got in the same day.

Another point to mention with the Covid hotels.. although you may get your results within the same day, you do have to pay for the full 3 night stay at the hotel. Fathers said the Acclaim was actually quite nice.

and the 3 nights COVID isolation rates are alot more expensive than standard rates. Was looking at this for my dad and the 3 night stay at Acclaim for the self isolation works out to $1300, including the 3 meals/day

The in-laws got the same thing but in Phoenix. Apparently if you fly back, you have to hotel quarantine, but if you drive back, you can quarantine at home so they are driving.

His total at Acclaim was $9XX, including some booze the one night. (You can order on your bill seperately)

Thats the plan for the next trip. Luckily they have a car there, but also looked at flying to Montana and renting a car.
