I heard it was okay to travel if you were a low risk white guy.

Not quite. You have to be in politics or it must be a family tradition

You also gotta be a fat fuck too who takes a toll on the health care system. There is a scale and you gotta be over 250 lb to pass. Over 6 feet tall? 300 lb.

We need flights to Terrace in June and they are $550. Flights to Van are cheap though.

Sounds like BC is not allowing travel up until the end of May long weekend though so I'll have to keep a close eye on the rules.
Ripbum is always a pricy flight. Big drive, did it once and pretty crazy wilderness in those parts. Minus Prince George.

Lots of people flying down to the States and driving back to avoid the mandatory hotel stay.

Where there is a will there is a way.

I know of 2 people in the last week who did the “mandatory 72hr hotel stay” both were allowed to go home after under 24 hours.

Anyone who thinks we have a quarantine system in place is kidding themselves. The border has been, and continues to be, wide open.

At least a few flights a day going to Vancouver Island, so the travel bans are a verbal statement and nothing else.

    like

EDIT, looked for tomorrow, one to Comox, one to Victoria, and 7 scheduled for Vancouver. Fewer than I thought, but nice that we can still travel even if someone might shake their fingers at us.

Most places won’t offer travel insurance if your leaving Canada.

Does anyone know an outfit that will?

    Thanks

Pretty rare to be able to get travel insurance to go places your government has a travel advisory against visiting. You are then searching for "high risk" insurance probably.

Westjet was including it on international flights, unsure if they have continued with it

So what is everyone guessing for the border to open to traffic? Getting antsy for Montana with summer right around the corner...

Federal travel restrictions (particularly restrictions on returning to Canada) will be the last thing loosened up. I think they'll be minimum 6 weeks after the situation "on the ground" is looking good. So, Sept 1 is my guess.

Just book your second dose and go down for medical treatment. Getting into the states doesn’t seem bad. It’s coming back that seems to suck right now.

For sure, would just be nice logistically to drive (all the random crap we would bring - kids stuff, bikes, clubs, etc). Definitely doesn't seem to be an issue getting down - maybe we fly down and rent a car and hope things improve by mid-summer (or get someone to pick us up at border on way back - @Brent.ff )

Zero issues driving from US to Canada.
