The one we're moving to in a couple of weeks in Glamorgan is like this. 1067sqft on one level. Going to be a big change from the 2300sqft house we're leaving in Coventry Hills. Coventry Hills is nice, we love it. Everything is close, except for any interesting restaurants. It will be interesting to find new "local" places in Glamorgan.
There is some sort of bakery over there that has “must eat” cheese buns... can’t remember the name though

Edit: on second thought I think it’s just called glamorgan bakery

Those Google maps people are posting do not take into account traffic lights. If you hit the Sarcee light coming from Aspen (and you probably will since N/S gets priority) thats a 4-5 min delay right there.

My Gym is near Aspen and I live in Killarney, which is much closer than downtown. I have never made it there in less than 15 minutes even at 10pm - the distance isn't so bad, but you spend half the time sitting at lights.

Assuming you mean the lights on 17th... they can be horribly timed depending on the time of day at CTrain frequencies.

That said, you must have really bad luck with the light schedule when you go to the gym...

I don't think it's luck. I've yet to hit the sarcee light (east west direction) green because the N/S direction gets heavy priority. There's lots of lights like that in Calgary I find.

All I'm saying is these 10 minute drives can easily be 15+ mins depending on lights.

You don't get access to the secret warp tunnel that Aspenites have. Airdrie has one too apparently.

No Green Line in Strathmore is a huge selling feature.
    Maybe a buying feature?

Yeah right. There's no way to make it downtown from Arbor Lake in 15 minutes without heavy speeding and a multi-thousand-dollar 360° antiradar setup.

    Mine:

Pros: ACTUAL 15 min commute, yoga pants, exotic cars
Cons: Inflated property values, ring road construction, high levels of smug

Still a Woodbine boy at heart.
It’s 16km door to door for me. This is right now.

It’s a 15 minute commute every day to the office at 7. Sure, 100 on Crowchild, that’s not speeding that’s going with the flow of traffic.

Now if I wanna speed... and by speed not fast enough to get a pink ticket doing 120 in clear traffic...

Good luck doing 90% of the trip at 100 without stopping for lights on Bow.

Thanks for reminding me how much I miss driving to the office.

People should be using one reference point in the downtown core with respect to commuting times in order to give fair comparisons - The Bay at 1st Street and 7th Avenue SW is as about as central as one can get in the core. What would your commute times be to there?

I think all these commute times to the burbs are a hilarious concept, I leave work at the wrong time and it takes me 30 minutes to go 4 blocks. And you are arguing about 23 or 17 minute made up commutes lmao. I am sure it will take you another 30-50 on top of that to the driveway of your Aspen McMansion.

But even "I live in Arbour Lake" can vary by another few minutes...

My buddy lives deep in Coventry and I swear the playground zones are the worst.

And thats with the Edmonton trail intersection that google always thinks is slow for some reason but never has traffic backed up. Although its so short I actually feel bad driving so usually just bike.

Why live in the city when this piece of heaven is only 10 min from downtown?

You seem familiar with them. Is that where you have your vacation home? It's the perfect place for families with a new school coming and amenities for days - including the golf course just steps away. It's truly an oasis that is better than Aspen.
