Every G-wagon I've ever seen has been driven by a 40-50yo Asian woman.
That makes sense. Those vehicles are designed to be driven into and over objects.

    I LOVED the Gs.

It took me a basically a year to get my wife to warm up to the idea of a G as a baby-mobile. Her initial objection was that she thought they were ugly (I reminded her that they look like our bulldog, with the squished face, and since she loves him...!) Anyways, finally got one and immediate realized it was a mistake... Main complaints -

Loud all the time - exhaust at lower speeds and windnoise at higher speeds.
Uncomfortable - verticle orientation of controls, seats, etc causes rapid fatigue.
Terrible ride - like a riding on a brick on Flintstones wheels, especially with the 19s.
Small back seat that couldn't fit a baby seat
Small cargo area that couldn't properly stow a stoler and anything else (like you often have to do with a newborn)
    Rear view obstructed by spare
I thought the final straw would be a lack of proper cupholders, but it was actually the terrible gas mileage and requisite frequent fill ups... I question anyone that claims more than 10mpg doing city driving.

So, that lasted for just under 6 months and still comes up as a major "I told you so" in our relationship (really hurts when that's directed at you, a "car guy"). The nice thing was this was one of the earlier G63s and we sold it for a pretty decent profit, so that eased a lot of the pain of being so wrong

I have a friend in the states that has a few older trucks (Europa G320 & 500, etc), but he's under no illusion of them being anything other than a utility vehicle... If you buy it with that in mind (and probably have at least one other car) you should be satisfied with it... Buying a pre-2019 and expecting it to be a luxury car is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

The diesel ones they don’t sell here are pretty reliable.

AMG is going I come with amg tax across the board, aside from the sound I dunno who would bother with the AMG. None of them are quick.

If they sold the G Professional here like they do in Europe that would be my ideal DD SUV. But they don’t, and here all they are are status symbols. Too bad really.

The new 63s are quick enough to feel like you're defying at least a few laws of physics. But you're right otherwise, the old ones are nothing special (but still make a decent noise).

The stigma of owning a G-Wagon is enough for me not to own one.
Too many trophy wives and mainland Chinese people driving them as status symbols.
I agree with this, although I see more Iranian folks in them.
All I can hear in my head is a terrible rap song when I see one. The type where half the lyrics are luxury brand names.
Post Malone must just roll around on sticky notes with those brand names written on them and whatever sticks to his greasy ass becomes the lyrics for his next "hit".

    "G-WAGON G-WAGON G-WAGON G-WAGON!!!"
^That's literally a line from a "song" of his... Quick, get this guy a Grammy.

    G63 pro:
You'll fit in amongst your Aspen neighbors and be the envy of all the plebs when you decide to go slumming outside of your enclave.

    G55 con:
You're just a budget balling poseur and might as well crawl back into your hole in the NE.

The new G63’s are definitely pretty sweet. But are solidly in “money is no object” territory for me, completely irrational purchase.

Which is the best kind of purchase.

Aspen is for basic bitches. I'm in the high-class Fairview area. So prestigious that all the high end dealerships built right across the road from me.

Hate to break it to you, but reason why dealership is there is so when owners get their car serviced, they get maximized satisfaction when they drive by your neighborhood due to the huge flex they can pull off to you plebs.

There's better neighborhoods for that. Half my neighbor's can't even see 20ft away, let alone hear the cars driving down the road.

The only environment appropriate for a G. If you're buying one to DD around the city - you're a phaggot!

The Canadian armed forces bought G wagons, that alone is a red flag not to buy.

I would love to get my hands on a CF surplus G. They only come up pretty rarely.

Most likey pretty trashed when they're done with those trucks, probably not much left over to sell... Some army friends tell me it was another buying blunder to for the forces. Not big enough to put troops in with all their gear, not powerful enough when loaded down, way too top heavy with any kind of real gun mounted on the roof and too narrow of wheel track to follow tanks and apc's through mined areas.

From what I understand, you don't usually see them at auction because they burn to the ground long before they get there. Its not a military convoy down QE2 if one of them isn't on fire.

Borrowed my friends G63 for a week.(And it is a newer one, so I know the older ones are going to worse)

Pros:...……………. None? I mean it is baller status if you like to show off. And it is built like a tank.

Cons: It is built like tank, and therefore handles like one. They didn't even get cup holders into these until 2019 FFS. Funny that people are saying it is a "trophy wife" vehicle, as my wife wouldn't have any use for the POS. If you have 200k to dump on an SUV there are mounds of better options out there. If you still want baller status, then just get a Range Rover. Looks ballin, but it's actually useful and livable day to day. Which draws attention to how ridiculously over priced they are as another con. I get why they are expensive, they are utilitarian and built to take a beating. But that just isn't valuable to anyone driving their kids to hockey practice and going grocery shopping.

Lol. Well it's definitely not anywhere as terrible as any Ford product. But for luxury pricing, you sure aren't getting luxury out of it.

Range Rovers are way too common in Calgary to be cool.

Since moving into my neighborhood where every second vehicle is one of some type I couldn’t want one less. I used to like them a lot but they have become pretty meh.

Wish the new defender was more hardcore to help the brand maintain some semblance of cache. Too bad.
