    Back when it came out, the Phaeton was definitely a low key baller car. It was basically a bentley but with a VW badge, it was for someone with $100k to spend on a luxury car who doesn't give 2 shits about what other people think about what they drive.

    On a somewhat related note, I was at someones house before christmas and they had a new Lexus LS and a new S560. I thought that was pretty darn weird to have both a german and japanese luxury barge.

    As far as I can tell people will always find a reason to look down on what you drive. Expensive / cheap, import / domestic , eco friendly / gas guzzler, fast / slow, pretty / ugly. People’s propensity to be on a high horse about cars is infinite.

    Just drive what you want, for whatever reason makes you happy.

    I try to flex whenever people talk about car payments by mentioning that I don't have any car payments. But that only works if they don't see what I drive.
    lol no car payments is a total flex regardless of what you drive. If you've got something from 2017+ that's paid for, that's a low-key flex, especially if you're taking what most people spend in car payments and investing it instead.

    I’d have such small payments on a luxury lease if I traded in my free and clear car... the struggle is real every few months

    Is it really a "flex" if you don't advertise that you have no car payments? How would people know otherwise? As Buster said, people often assume huge payments, HELOC etc. and that is the case for a lot of people, but not always.

    This reminds me that my last car payment is the end of March!
    It'll be nice to have a couple thousand freed up every month.

    Volvo S80 was a low key status flex car and the current S90 is arguably the same.

    My uncle is a millionaire and he drives an '04 S60, which is one of the reasons he stays rich... lol

    Pretty much anyone who can afford to own 20y/o++ poster cars. Kind of kills my love for the car game, but that's only cause I'm not baller.

    1984 Audi Sport Quattro - $500k++
    https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/A...quattro/181369
    1994/5 Audi RS2 - $60k+++
    1983-1990 Audi UrQuattro - $50k++
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-ur-quattro-4/
    Audi B5 RS4 - $40k+
    Audi C5 RS6 - $30k+

    Obviously, all the cool 90's BMW's are stupid money.

    There's an E34 M5 on kijiji for $40k+
    E36/8 M-Coupes - $40k++
    All the older M models are skyrocketing

    Mercedes!!

    1991 190E evo 2 - $200k++
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-evolution-ii/
    1994 E500 - $40k++
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-benz-e500-12/

    Obviously, all the air-cooled Porsche's.

    It's a crazy world out there - will it be feasible to drive ICE vehicles 25 years from now? I wonder if/when the market will peak?

    Most of our investors have relatively high net worth but you can't tell from the cars they drive. The few people I can think of

    - Surgeon - ~2011 BMW 328i
    - Entrepreneur. Made ~$30M when he sold the business - Toyota Tundra
    - Entrepreneur. Sold 3 companies. Ford F150
    - Sales director. Made ~$8M over a few years before company was sold. 2013 Volvo XC90
    - Venture capitalist - ~2008 Honda Accord
    - Entrepreneur and been CFO for several companies - ~2014 Infiniti Q50
    - Our former CEO and now an executive at a major O&G company - 1998 Toyota 4Runner with ~300k on it.
    - Lawyer/Partner at a major law film, who sold his last house for ~$3M - First gen Audi Q3

    New Denali pickup.

    Big SUVs (expedition)

    Hybrid XC90

    GTR, GT500 (every option is 130+ CDN).

    All are flex vehicle but not douchy.

    Most self made big money people I know are workaholics who have no time for cars anyway. Occasionally people happen to be interested in cars and as such spend big money on them, but car guy workaholic multi millionaires is starting to become a pretty small piece of the Venn diagram.

    Not a lot of time for hobbies when all you do is work.

    Most people in general don't care about cars. Getting rich isn't going to turn you into a car guy.
