If he goes for a GLC, I'm fairly confident it will be the 63. He is firmly in the camp of SUV over a car. I know they aren't trucks, I was asking due to the thread being moved to "trucks, 4x4 and offroading" section. None of Witch apply. Thought it is a odd place for it.

Only reason he may go for the GLE, is for the newer looking interior. It will be cheaper too. I'm sure the GLE 53 will be enough power, but we will drive them to see. It's going to be interesting to see what way he goes. Either way, I'm jacked about going with him to look at all these cars out of my price range. Must be nice to buy outright whatever he decides on.

Edit: what are the chances of driving the GLE 53 and the GLC 63? Do they have demos of the performance versions? Never really shopped for new vehicles, especially of this caliber.
Don’t see why you wouldn’t get a demo. ESP on the GLC63.

Seen a bunch around town so it’s not particularly new or rare anymore.

I was able to get a demo of the E53 coupe pretty casually last year, just kicking tires. If buddy is serious that makes it easier.

My guy was even willing to let me demo the bmw 8 series last year if I gave him a warm fuzzy I was going to buy one.

I didn't end up going to look at anything with my buddy due to everything going on. Friend braved the virus and checked out the Mayan and Merc. Ended up getting a COVID-19 deal that was too good to pass up on a GLC43.

Shops for 63, buys 43. Proof the recession is upon us.

Honestly it is a better choice if it is a daily. At least you get some semblance of fuel mileage. Still has great power in comparison to most other stuff on the road. Probably a lot cheaper insurance.

I'd wager insurance is not appreciably more on the 63 (if at all).

Also, fuel economy?? I thought this was an enthusiast forum.

AMG and Fuel economy in the same sentence is always a lol.

Insurance on my C63 wasn’t bad at all, I doubt it was that much worse than C class.

You want to pay high insurance you should try a Honda Fit. Worst car in my fleet for sure, clearly the insurers know how hard I drive it.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

I thought I had him talked into the closed Mayan, I really did. As for getting the 43 over the 63, he even admitted he told kill someone with the 63. He made a good choice.

the 63 crosses that magic 500hp number that seems to trigger a lot of insurance companies now.

I'm an enthusiast, but I'm not particularly enthusiastic about stopping for fuel every other day when it's no added fun anyway. I suppose the 63 is more exciting to rev up at a stop light like a dick head, but overall you just burn more fuel sitting in traffic wanting to kill people.

Mainly you just need to try and see the silver lining when life kicks you in the nuts.

Good point, I forgot about that 500hp threshold that is apparently a thing now.

Ya ya, silver linings and all. But if you can't rev it at the light like a dickhead, whats the point?
