Yah it blows. Unfortunately Genesis Edm and local glass shops quote me the exact same price with the exact same part number. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
However, thinking about this more, the first local shop I went to when I got the damage was Crystal Glass and back then, they said there was no glass to get. Nothing showed up in their system to order. So I'll have to verify that again because if AMI only deals with Crystal Glass, that might be a problem lol. You'd think they'd also deal with other shops tho.

Windshield prices are highly related to volume of model sold. If you have something rare, best to have loose fitting undies and a bendy waistline.

Cal-Alta did my wife's Odyssey for $265 today. In and out in 90 minutes. Still my go-to shop.

Is windshield polishing a thing?
I have a windshield that’s otherwise pristine but heavily hologrammed from sandblasting and dust etching in from wipers.
New windshield the only real fix?

I usually use Fuyao which is supposed to be an OEM supplier for some manufacturers but they can be hit or miss too apparently.

I've had five over the years from Cal-Alta, never asked about brands, and never had an issue.

We just got a new windshield on my wife's Rogue from Go Autoglass in Crowfoot. They were the cheapest quote and no issues so far. Done in a few hours. That was a few days ago, so if we get some rain here soon we'll see if there any issues.
Yeah that's fair. I had their glass in some of other cars before and they were either easily chipped and cracked or the glass itself had ripples, so the view was off, that's why I stopped going to them. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

A few weeks ago the wife's 2020 MDX needed windshield, Silverhill quoted me $3,000 (not a typo) and straight up told me the vehicle MUST have OEM glass otherwise none of the sensors will ever work. Cal-Alta literally LOL'd when I mentioned that at the counter, said they'd be out of business if that was the case. $450 later, the new glass is better than the OEM that came from the factory (had a few small waves in the corners).

Dealerships are big fans of telling you that you must use dealerships.
Reputable independent shops will warranty their work, so it's not a big risk.

Yup, I just went through this. Acura wont even install aftermarket glass at their dealers. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I used Speedy, only cause it was convenient, after insurance company denied using OEM glass, which was several hundred more out of pocket. I told the Acura dealer they should have something official that says they require OEM glass for the safety stuff to work property.
