Have already heard of one person in my professional circle who has taken their life out of this whole situation. Wife and kid too.

Everyone on here try and remember there are brighter days on the horizon no matter how bleak things look. And if it helps you to tune out of the craziness and focus on yourself that is 100% ok.

Yes sorry. Had a wife and kid he left behind.

I just hope these people can get the support they desperately need in light of everything that’s happening. Real easy for people to fall through the cracks with isolation and the media frenzy that is going on scaring everyone.

Well, two of my buddies were laid off today. one at an EPC company and one who works oil and gas sales. I have some risk of the same fate too.
I'm upgrading that to 4 of my buddies laid off today, plus my paycut.

My wife's work laid off 5 people today (20% of the company in Calgary). People are getting nervous at my work too. Everyday we lose more people to self-isolation. No one had tested positive yet, but if this keeps going, we'll have to shut down because of lack of staff.

We laid off an addition 40% of field staff today and took a 10% paycut.

That's on top of the 33% laid off last week.

Total laid off thus far is ~ 100ppl

Likely more to come as this continues.

I legit spent 90 minutes this week giving advice on "strategic bankruptcy" to some executives I know. The decision they make will save/cut/impact about two dozen jobs directly. Fornicate my arsehole, that's stressful.

Suicide is a weird thing. It's probably the most carefully considered and thoughtful thing that a person can think they are doing. But the faulty logic in all the thinking that went into it guarantee that it will end up a horrific, scarring decision severely affecting those left behind.

    Please don't.

I've had some dark days, and months, but I'm so happy Iver never been that far.

Please don't. The world needs you. I need you.

This really sucks and unfortunately we will be hearing more of this. Alberta has been getting hammered for so long that hopelessness is common.

PSAC and the minister of resources having a call to discuss stuff at 4 pm today - or there is an announcement coming, I wasn't quite sure.

I've got an active count of 743 right now based on rig GPS data, 625 of those with spud dates in March.

I know some people where they have ~80 of staff laid off. My wife's company will be at ~60% tomorrow with 5-10% pay cuts for everyone left.

My company is in construction and our problem so far has been keeping enough healthy workers on site but that is about to change. New jobs that were supposed to start in April are being moved back a month (for now) and we are wrapping up some other jobs so in about two weeks we will start to run out of work and have a decent slowdown. If this doesn't last more than another month we will come out fine, but more than that it will start to hurt.

Good luck to everyone out there. Hopefully this will be in the rear view mirror soon enough.
