Default Pre build or build out a pc? Need to upgrade my home desktop

Primary uses are Microsoft office, photoshop, web browsing and some light gaming.

I’ve never built a pc before. I went into memory express and felt a bit overwhelmed. There’s so many video cards/gpus these days I don’t know where to begin. Do I get 8 gb ram or 16? Ssd or regular HD?

    Any guidance is appreciated.

Memex for service, amazon if you want to save $$$.

If Memex, walk in with the most demanding software specs you use, and ask them to select a PC for you.

    for eg. photoshop

32GB and an SSD (512GB) would be my only must haves.

What's your budget? Building a PC takes a few hours so consider if thats worth your time as a hassle or a fun experience.

guru3D usual puts out a bi-annual buyers guide so i would start there if you are completely new.

Also personal preference but AMD has REALLY been killing in the performance per dollar area.

What's your budget? I'd be happy to put one together for you and then you can just go to Memex and pay them $70 to build it and load the OS/drivers. Building them is super easy but for $70, who cares just let Memex do it. They do price beats so you don't have to worry about buying elsewhere and piecing it together.

Whatever you do, don't let the guys at MX pick the parts for you. The last time I had a good experience there in terms of employee knowledge was when they were a tiny hole in the wall just off McLeod trail. Last time I was in there, they literally told me my CPU wouldn't even run unless I bought a $250 AIO cooler

If you're not in a hurry I would wait for the Ryzen 4000 series to land, but that will be summer-ish.

Without knowing your budget, this would suit your described needs for $1200ish. Obviously you can tweak it still based on more specific requirements/preferences but this is a good starting point: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/yRVwDx
