    Jim Karahalios

Never heard of any of them other than o toole. And he’s pretty unlikeable.

Hopefully they don’t spend much money on this circus with one elephant in the race.

I'm voting for Leslyn Lewis. C'mon, a black female lawyer from Toronto? How perfect is that?
Although I haven't read her platform yet. I guess I should.

My god. She’s practically Meghan Markle.

But does she have the legs for the job?

Lewis has never been an MP though she did run for the Conservatives in 2015. She was parachuted into a Toronto riding at the last minute after old video surfaced of the nominated candidate urinating into a coffee cup while working in someone’s home. He quit and the party convinced her to run, but she lost to a Liberal.
The pro-life group has endorsed her, and she also counts among her supporters Charles McVety, a prominent Christian activist who has called her a “breath of fresh air” as a strong Christian woman who is anti-abortion and in support of traditional marriage.

She has the Liberal Party's support, that's for sure.

Can we convince John Barlow to run?

I hate all of the options already.

It’s less that I dislike Mackay, I could live with him, it’s that we need to take this leadership race more seriously and he needs someone to seriously challenge him.

We are lined up for another spineless Scheer.

Don’t believe me? Look at how mackay behaved during this blockade crisis. Dithering. Back and forth. Deleting tweets. It’s as if he has all of scheer’s people working for him.

They managed to reject candidates who were 'too socially conservative' but still have three people backed by the Campaign Life Coalition. A nice $600K to the party warchest to ensure the anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage lobby continues to have a seat at the table going forward.

ugh - arent we way past the jesus nuts already? Why do we get to still choose turds from opposite ends of the political spectrum? Where is the logical middle ground?

The party isn't defined by who donates to it.

How much has been donated by tides or the cupe.

Because they still need to win those rural ridings, and in those areas people still tend to be a lot more churchy than the in Urban settings. The cons unfortunately cannot take all the urban areas with complete disregard to the rural areas like the libs can and therein lies the rub. For the cons to win they need all those rural ridings and some of the urban ones to have any chance at winning. If they blow off the Jesus freaks completely, they will lose those areas to fringe party vote splitting and presto... JT laughing at us all the way to the UN seat in an unassailable mountain of debt he so desperately wants.

The Cons would fare far better if they adopted a more centrist approach. Socially liberal, fiscally con.

The people who donate are typically the same ones that fund leadership campaigns and vote for leaders and then volunteer to help with campaigns and then vote for the party.

They were able to mobilize money and signatures for multiple candidates that nobody's ever heard of who couldn't be considered frontrunners to win their own seats nevermind an election. They define the party because they're the ones doing all the work and raising and spending the money to define the party.

    yup.

The federal conservative party is a hot mess of incompetence. One of the reasons there is nobody competent to lead the party is that smart competent people want nothing to do with it - for good reason. Of course, the Liberal party has the same problem.

The Tories nonetheless extended their fundraising dominance by raising a total of $30.8 million in the whole of 2019
If they donated $600k that is 2% of the total 2019 donations
