I like mass transit, but I have never been happy with the green line. I can't tell if it's because I'm a NIMBY (it would run 2 blocks from my house, eventually), or because of the traffic issues on centre street (which I use daily), or the eyesore of a bridge over princes island, which is an iconic park. Really hard to unwrap my feelings about all this, but I am not pleased.

Neither am I. I was ok with original plan to run it underground until 16th ave. Not this iteration.

Looking at the map it goes more on PP than I originally thought, I didn't realize it went up 2nd street, thought it was 1st for some reason.

The shitty thing is the bridge is being built right on the existing pedestrian bridge ... so guessing than means a year or two with that bridge out of commission. I wonder if they'll fix the middle bridge by then or if we'll lose 2 out of the 3 bridges for a while.

I can't wait for every 30 minute schedules, meaning it's still faster to take the bus.

So 2nd street would go away as far as vehicle traffic in this plan?

That station is underground. The LRT will cross a bridge over the Bow and then immediately tunnel under 2nd St.

Anyone within half a km of this train should be pissed. Them and the rest of taxpayers.

Meanwhile, still not even a crayon drawing Of an idea of how to get to the airport and utilize that tunnel to nowhere that was also so “nessecary”.

Connecting airport trail tunnel to metis trail, yeah, what the fuck is the holdup? That would be valuable for business and personal transport, as well as just showcasing the city a lot better than that goat-trail that you have now.

I'm for the green line but above ground on Centre St. is a mistake and I'm hoping they put the station below ground at 16th Ave/Centre St. intersection. Otherwise, that would be a nightmare!

Can't do that. Hundreds of cabbies would have no where to hangout and chat for hours while "working"

Is there another city anywhere along Hwy 1 that has an above ground train crossing?!?!?!

I believe the plan was to go back underground to cross 16th avenue. Wasn't it?

The City needs to take Vancouver leads and look what they did with Cambie street.

There was a lot of opposition on that but it got done and worked out well.

    Oh and its underground.

Yeah, 16th ave station is underground

Edit: Actually ... the new design seems to be at grade?

^ looks like i was mistaken above as well, i thought 2nd Ave SW station was still slated to be underground. That will complicate the roadways in Eau Claire a bit with it at grade.

Looking forward to the green line going to deep SE by 2030.

But yeah, that friggin airport connection should be a priority.

So it starts to go underground once downtown at Eau Claire?! How are they widening Center St? At grade is definitely cheaper than tunneling but it's the same excuse used decades ago and why 7th Ave looks as it does....

What is hilarious is the station at Westbrook Mall. Deep underground and actually feels pretty modern, meanwhile Westbrook is such a shit mall
