Default City just put out some renderings of the green line

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...iver-1.5485633

Cuts through the quiet part of prince’s island and check out those street renderings of centre street between 8th and 16th.

As much as I liked living in rosedale/crescent, this was a deciding factor in not buying there. Between the construction and train operating at grade, this area is going to be such a pain in the ass.

As someone who lives near and uses centre street, I'm happy that they don't have the money for this. Between fed and province, they are VERY short of funds.

China: Builds a hospital in 10 days
Canada: Builds one bridge that takes 5 years, after 25 years of talk and redesign; then takes another 5 years to reconstruct and "improve" it.

It's great they're still spending time and money on something that's not gonna happen. Always important to make sure we find ways to waste taxpayer dollars. Bring on the workshops! Hire some bridge architects!

Having that stupid train run up center street will sanitize it’s use as a commuting artery.

Someone needs to have the hard conversation with the city to tell them that Green Line is just plain a bad idea.

The green line south leg is a great idea, and badly needed, and MUCH cheaper per KM. Build it all the way to the south hospital. Leave the bow river bridge, tunnels, and whatever on centre street alone for now.

WTF they're running it at grade now? RIP centre street neighborhood values. I cringe every time I have to drive on 36th in the NE. Hell, the short at grade path downtown along 9th Street SW is already a clusterfuck that I have to deal with daily.

It was always at grade north of about 20th I think? Now it's basically the entire distance. Brutal.

Seems BRT makes a ton more sense for the Central North

Yea sure I could live with south, North has always been a gong show.

My opinion is it should always have been run along Edm trail if they wanted to go north. Center street never made any sense.

Green line is a not insignificant factor in why I moved.

North of 20th is ghetto, so nobody cares. The volume is always between downtown and 16th anyways.

If the used edmonton trail they could probably tie into the zoo station and use existing core infrastructure and bridges.

Would you trust that "hospital" in 5 years?

Im not a big fan of the at grade level anything, I think its a pain in the arse already to drive downtown, picking up anyone at 5pm in this city is a nightmare.

If they are going to spend a shit load of money they should atleast put the downtown portion underground.

Also I'd be pretty pissed if I had dropped up to 7 figures on one of those eau claire condos just to have a train in my view.

Probably more dependable than banking on Crowchild construction being completed.

Yes. That's why there are shit load of rub and tug joints on center st in the event of traffic accident/jam.

Expanded sidewalk. C-Train in the middle with nothing separating it except for 1 lane of traffic. No Parking. This isn't 36th street at all. Those 2 kids are so going to die.
