Damn thought Verstappen could hold it with those tyres, but RBR and McLaren did great today!

The benefit of masks is not known at this time. But we do know it is some non-trivial amount more than zero.

We also know that the cost of mask use is, essentially, zero.

So the cost:benefit of mask use is approaching infinity. I'll take that every time. And every time I see someone without a mask, I think they are stupid.

Not a terrible race but a bit of a snoozer thanks to Mercedes

    Last lap begs to differ

No penalty for stroll. How does that work?

Goes off track himself to force ricciardo off track and gains a position. Wtf haha.

One lap should not be what makes a whole race worth while.

Ferrari DNF definitely made that race worthwhile.

Driver of the day should have been those trophy carts
Goofy crash by leclerc to ruin their race. Pretty boring outside of the last few laps though without all the SC. Would have been more interesting of Perez had got the pass on albon but it allowed Norris to get some a better finishing so it was ok.

There was great mid-field racing, well at least at the first half of the race. Albon had a tough day too.

Def not Leclercs finest move. He has since apologized and taken full blame.

Perez with a great race overall.

Sort of a boring ish race for most of it, until about the last 10 laps which were pretty interesting. Merc is above everyone else this year, I cant see any team that can compete. At least Formula 1.5 is enjoyable to watch

Albon learned. Same corner, used almost all the space, got away much cleaner.

Finally happened, Renault protested the RP's brake ducts, and now Mercedes must provide their part for comparison. To me, it seems like it would be easy to copy.

Also, Mercedes is not fucking stupid. They wouldn't be selling parts to RP that would get them in hot water. Seems like Renault has had some sour grapes and grasping at straws.

"Adjust this 2mm so it doesn't show up as exact copies when you put it on the overlay"

    *New parts*

From what I've heard/read the brake ducts were just added to the "Listed Parts" this season so there is a possibility Tracing Point / Merc missed that. Also, the brake ducts have internal components that could not be easily photographed. Finally, sounds like they can ask for the CAD files to show development so that could be difficult to produce if the parts or designs were provided by Mercedes or their third-party.

In any event, even if Stroll is a billionaire's kid, it would be good to see a competitive Canuck on the grid again so I hope Tracing Point wins the challenge.

It's actually a lot more simple than that. Nobody missed anything.

2019 - Air Ducts (including brake ducts) are allowed to be purchased. RP uses 2019 Merc brake ducts, completely legal.

2020 - Air Ducts are now listed parts, and you must create your own part. RP's 2020 brake ducts looks awful similar to 2019 brake ducts, so Renault's argument is they didn't do a clean sheet design and is in breach.

I doubt this will go anywhere, this is unfortunately the side effect of adding to the listed parts list year over year. You can't expect a team to completely forget how a purchased part works with your aero package and re-create something from scratch the next year that it's added to the listed parts list.

Did RP use Merc brake ducts in 2019?

I'd assume so, how else would they get the design?

Even if they didn't use it, I would suspect they would have access to it.

Lando Norris is 3rd in the WDC! I'm excited for next year when they have Mercedes power units and Ricciardo in the other car. Daniel might finally beat Max.
