Goddamn first time I’ve seen a tyre strategy work so well for me.

This week's race was actually entertaining, Red Bull slayed Mercedes with great strategy. Those merc cars were just destroying tires today in the higher track temps, enjoyed hearing Hamilton complain.
Great drive by Max from beginning to the end, literally top notch. Albon turned it up near the end once he found his pace.
Feel bad for Vettel and Bottas, both got fucked properly this race.
I'll never feel bad for Vettel.

Loved listening to Hamilton’s Boo hoo on the radio about the RB tire pressure.
The Mercedes has big problems in heat. Combination of downforce, rear wing and heat is hard on the tires
lol I thought that was funny. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Soooo Tracing Point got hit with 400k fine?! Jeezus
That spin by seb was.....something special. That ferrari strategy though, way worse.
Great race by max though, wasn't expecting that performance. Softest tires for every race please.
Hamilton yoinked the first place trophy
Feel bad for vettel for sure. Binottos post race comments were mind boggling. Says they pitted vettel so leclerc can clear, blamed vettels spin for his results. Meanwhile their strategy had vettel run a longer stint on mediums than hards. At this point, they’re just out to fuck him. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
As for Bottas, did not feel bad for him at all. He was put on a race win strategy and couldn’t convert. Simple as that. He put zero pressure on max at the second stop when they both came out on the exact same tires. At least Hamilton tried with what he had, a super long second stint where it was maybe possible to go to the end on a 1 stopper.
Pirelli needs to be more aggressive on tire choice. That was a fun race, even tho McLaren has lost its early season mojo.

What's everyone's take on the banning of qualifying modes for Spa?
I personally don't see it as a game changer. Helmut suggested the mode was worth 0.7 - 1 second per lap.
Might be true but I think it's simply a balancing act as Honda run more aggressive mapping on race day and Mercedes choose to in qualifying.
I don't think it'll make a big difference but we'll see. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Williams might be the biggest loser on this as they might be able to make it to Q2 anymore.
Another week of amazing Ferrari strategy. Double stack charles on soft and seb on medium (Possibly seb was having issues). He has to ask what they want him to do, they say to push, no more saving so he goes faster, and then they ask what about going to the end. Also sucked for charles with the engine turning off. He did hit the sausage kerbs pretty hard leading up to the issue. Then they had him drive a couple laps without a done up seat belt. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. edit: They had also put Seb on used softs, not new softs which he had available.....

Considering Mercedes purposely didn’t run party mode this weekend while others team did and was still miles ahead, I’d say it’s like the oil burning clarifications in that it’ll hurt everyone else and not Mercedes. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

There seems to be more to the story then just qualifying modes as teams are being asked to provide drawings, 3 dimensional illustrations and max/min values of when energy is used in their ERS systems.
Horner asked Wolf in a Barcelona post race discussion where 1 second came from in sector 1 without DRS but using ERS; he of course did not respond.
I agree with the statements around qualifying mode not being an issue for Mercedes but I wonder if this new TD is a result of Honda asking questions through RB about the Mercedes.
I think they’re barking up the wrong tree. Mercedes targeted Ferrari’s 2019 power curve, and they did it by allowing the engine to run hotter by beefing everything up. They’re basically running leaner optimal air fuel ratios for maximum power at the expense of higher exhaust temps. During winter testing they had parts fail durability tests from the higher temps and fixed that prior to Aus. They’re getting power everywhere, and their ers is still tailing off at the end of the straights. Their gains are all ICE.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Mercedes ran qualifying in the highest race mode, and didn’t use party mode in Barcelona. They still destroyed everyone, and still put a 0.8s gap on Max. They’re not going to be affected by the single engine mode technical directive.

Good overview of why banning party modes will make the racing worse.
It looks like Italy before this gets implemented.

Williams sold. Kinda sad but they couldn't keep going the way they were.
Laughed way too hard at this.

3 new races added!! 2 of them in Bahrain. Which was exciting since I have an interview for a job there. Would be sick to attend races down the street from my home.
