My social media history means that can never happen. Besides that one beyonders who negative reps me says I'm a hypocritical dickwad, so probably not politician material.
Man. That neg rep really got to you didn’t it?

My favorite is when you are neg repped by someone with such low rep power that it just shows up and grey and you can’t see if it was positive or negative

What have some of you guys done (or had done) at your company as a thank you for staff still coming into work (people that can't work from home)?

2 weeks ago I gave $100 gas cards to everyone still coming into the office at least 4 days a week as a thank you but I would like to do something else too. Bringing in lunch was the usual thank you back in the day, but there are several staff that are scared to eat food brought in so I am afraid that would be a waste. Any other ideas?

    Grocery gift cards?

How many staff are we talking?
I guess you could customize if it's just a few and you know them well.
i.e. families and kids can have a board game, Karen gets a candle making kit, Joe gets a practice chipping net.

We increased everyone’s wage by 15% if they deal with public or travel (no flights allowed). We also spent over 2 million on PPE supplies and programs for all employees (full disclosure a percentage of this was donated to first responders). Just sent everyone $100 grocery cards as well.

Why do people need bonuses to do their job now? How about they get to stay employed during an economic crisis. Best bonus of all. Fuck, people are soft.

I think it's a balance. It's trying to demonstrate to your people that you're grateful for them, and to do what you can as a leader to offload some of the general anxiety, stress, and burnout everyone is feeling.
I feel you though - personally, I'm grateful i still have a job and haven't been hit by any pay or benefit cuts, recognizing many people right now aren't so fortunate. It's not really a"bonus" to do your base job, but a demonstration of value. There's also some marketing and social license to be gained here; no doubt employees are going to be talking about how their boss has looked out for them during this time.

My company sent out an email saying they plan to re-open the office on May 11th. Seems optimistic.

Ear marking June for my company, however seeing how well WFM was, policies are going to be relaxed where there's going to be more availability for it, which is awesome

Seemed way busier driving into downtown this morning. Easily the busiest day since the pandemic started.

I have noticed traffic up since last Thursday here in Edmonton. It is annoying lol

And thanks for some ideas. Might go with the food gift cards. Trying to keep it simple and not too costly (only ~10 employees will get this). Most are dealing with no/minimal people from outside of the company, but they don't have the same WFH option as other staff.

We have been reasonably lucky. Only laid off about 15% of field staff and most of those were just hired as we were ramping up in late Feb and early Mar. The staff that have been kept so far haven't had to take any cuts. We really need stuff to start going back to normal though or it will get worse. Too many clients doing a "wait and see" which has us completely existing work and not starting much new stuff. Difficult decisions will need to be made in late May if things don't improve. But in the meantime, there are some staff that need a little something extra.

Depends on how many people are in your office. My commute I probably pass a few hundred random strangers. Downtown offices are no way opening even in June.

Rumours are swirling at my DT firm that we expect to be back June 1, and maybe even as early as May 15th which is when the current WFH order ends. I expect it to get extended until at least June and most likely July as WFH has not had many negative impacts on productivity on the macro level.

Elevators would be the big problem at the office, they're always so packed and you can't just wait for the next one cuz it'll be packed too. Life at the cubicle wouldn't be too bad for the most part. Just gotta stop coworkers from coming by to chat in your face when they're bored. Communal areas like kitchen/bathrooms shouldn't be terrible since you can wash your hands there and/or use sanitizer when you get back to your desk.

The one more month then back to work I still think is absurd unless you want to send people home again in another month.
Are we irradiating the virus or are we just playing, "I wonder what would happen if..."
