Major concern currently is the elevators. If the buildings fill up and we are still limited to 2-3 people, it could take several hours to get up during the busy times like lunch or even heading home. I heard an estimate of 2-3 hours if the buildings are at regular capacity!
I felt like that was always a big concern but no one seems to be addressing this bottleneck since people are going back in "stages". The only thing I could assume they are planning is that once it is at the regular capacity phase, elevators won't be limited to 2-3 people anymore, which doesn't make a lot of sense.

Just pretend you work in construction... where nothing has changed. Sites are full of people, offices are full of people and literally nothing has changed.

Our office, when were back, requires masks at all times aside from at your desk. Techincally if you all have masks on you can have more people closer together ... but I still don't want to be in a packed elevator. 13th floor for me ... will definitely suck at first but I intend to only take the stairs and avoid the railings as best I can.

Amazing how things get put in perspective when you work a job every day that has a ton more danger than catching a bad flu.

I asked my company a similar question regarding PPE. They bought a ton of it, but provided no education whatsoever on proper usage so in many cases it will end up being worse than wearing no PPE at all. In any other scenario (i.e. a field/site visit) you have to go through full safety training on PPE usage, procedures, etc. They did not have an answer for me haha.

Pretty obvious that most companies are just doing whatever the bare minimum is just to avoid any liability, from what I can tell anyway.

My building isn't even running all 4 elevators.

2 per elevator and only 2 elevators.

My elevator strategy is going to be to lean on the cripple thing hard and skip the lines

I am using a mini display port to HDMI adaptor to run an external monitor from my Surface Pro 3. If I want to run two external monitors the only adaptors that have mini display to two HDMI connectors seem crazy expensive. Any thoughts? Work from home would be a bit easier if I can run both external monitors.
I had a similar issue to you. An item like this one below solved it. You can use your charging port as a monitor adapter while simultaneously charging your device. It's great.

Company sent out a survey yesterday... my response was basically “fuck the office” ...will see if anyone actually reads these things, or if the parents overwhelmingly agree office is good and fuck me into having to commute again

One thing is sure though, wave 1 of returns will be voluntary which is inline with the only other return plan I have heard (major O&G corp)

See I have found the opposite, it’s all the parents who are attached to WFH to stay home with the kids ( and stop paying childcare ).

The only parents I know who want to be back in the office are those with stay at home wives who they want to get away from.

Every at the office without kids has essentially been back at work for a couple weeks now.

You want to permanently WFH? Ok, let just re-examine your compensation in light...

I hope this encourages organizations to start tracking actual work performance, and not just attendance, which still seems to be a key metric in some managers eyes.

Tracking actual performance sounds time consume and thus expensive to me. Any shortcuts will lead to people gaming the system. We have a pretty lightweight performance review process and it still monopolizes peoples time for easily a week a year. Imagine doing that continuously...

Either you trust your enployees and are happy with their work product or you aren’t.

A friend of mine was telling me that at her insurance company they were tracking performance by how many claims you can close out.
One person managed to go on for 8 months with average performance by going in after people had completed their entries, and changing the 'closed by' to their own name.
