Looking around
Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
I thought that Calgary would have been better prepared for WFH arrangements after the floods.
I'm living in San Francisco, and my employer has been on top of this issue. We are on week three of a formal work at home policy, all employees have laptops, and most services can be accessed via BeyondCorp and/or over a traditional VPN connection, Google Hangouts is integrated with all meetings by default, and we are getting a $500 bonus to help with the added expenses of working at home. I highly recommend moving down to the States if you are sitting on the fence about it.

Starting to 'work from home' today... but since I am in the office service business... it basically means not working.
Probably for the best, Bow valley is a ghost town. All seats removed from the food court and the only vendors open are Tims, Analog and A&W. Everything else is shuttered.
All seats removed? That just seems petty lol

We don't usually do video anyways since we are mostly presenting/viewing ppt decks.
Can anyone confirm that Cenovus has closed offices until after May long?
Like I wonder how people even think about doing that, how does that come up as an idea lmaoThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Went there yesterday to grab some stuff, place was dead, granted I only went to one of the floors. I did notice the cleaners were still working though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We aren’t allowed having more than 6 people physically in the office for any reason. They have a tracker setup for if people have to go in to either pick things up or work on physical files / equipment.

Kinda makes sense though. How often do those tables/chairs get cleaned? People constantly sit, spill stuff, eat with their mouths opens, etc.... Especially kids touching everything in sight. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

It's a way for the places to stay open without violating any of the maximum occupancy rules now. Started with the coffee shops. Take away the chairs so that people can't stick around and gather, and you can still stay open as a "take out" place. Also obviously reduces chances of people gathering and coughing on each other.
Was at Costco last night. All the seats gone but yet people were crowded along the wall shelf shoulder to shoulder. They should just shut the food kiosk down. Fuck people are dumb. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Home office is set up. Both wife and I are WFH, but have only one office desk. Have a USB docking station set up with the monitor and mouse. We have a desk schedule that should give each of us several hours of dedicated desk time each day. Also scheduled an hour workout each day, and have the kids academic schedules too.
It's a complex thing, but it might work.
Very lucky my work isn't something that takes more than a few hours of desk time per day.

Have made the unfortunate discovery that one of our neighbors absolutely pounds their music all day, every day. Detached houses with decent separation and can hear it through our walls. Yay.
Having trouble connecting to a vendor's Webex meeting. Lets me join the meeting but can't connect audio.
