^ that right there... 90% of the face to face talks I have dealing with work get followed up with an email. Gotta hold them to the shit they say. Been burned a couple times. "Did you get that in writing"
In person is even more valuable for engineers or anyone with poor communication skills.

That is the main problem. I don't care how much you know if you have other issues related to communication. Some people are scared to even call people on the phone, or they assume a lot of things and use that as an excuse for their lack the confidence to reach out to others and include the right people in discussions. On the flip side, people should also encourage an environment where ideas can be shared without feeling intimidated or stupid. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
99% of projects that went shitty was because of lack of communication.
My main office was really pushing for everyone to come back to the office. We're a small group and the boss is the kind of person who needs the work and home separation so I think he felt that everyone else was the same. I pushed back constructively and increased my communication with what I'm working on to show that I'm just as, if not more productive at home. For me, its been a drastic improvement on my work/life balance while still being effective at my job. With Teams/Zoom most large meetings can be done virtually with people from anywhere and for everything else calls, texts, and emails have worked great for me. I know some sales guys are probably getting annoyed because I'm not downtown frequently for coffees or meetings but its not really something I'm that comfortable with just yet unless I know them really well. The one's I care to see, or have a business reason to see have been more than accommodating coming to the south end of town.
One of my clients I'll be working with is back pretty much full time at the office so I'm sure once 2021 kicks off I'll have to be back down town. For the time being I'm soaking up the WFH by thoroughly enjoying rocking sweat pants every day!

Our company was aiming for 35% back in the office in the fall (completely voluntary so only ended up being 25% back).
However just got an email that everyone is to be back working from home as of tomorrow except for a few business critical staff that need to be in the office.
In our office we just announced that we were reducing the "in house" staff by 30%. Effective immediately all sales staff are to work from home until the end of January. I work half and half from home/office. I prefer to work at home because I'm much more productive.

Only downside to working at home is I'm seeing highly increased wear and tear on my sweatpants. Also, I feel really silly walking around the house in a dress shirt and sweats.

If my virtual meetings have C level executives in them I'll toss on a polo but besides that I'm rocking the t-shirt and sweat pants life.
