Fair, but that's more of a justification than a reason. This completely fist fucks everyone with a child between the ages of 2 & 10. Paralyzing them at home and I think that's what they want in order to get the infection rate off the exponential path and into something more linear.

Now, the talk of "entire year cancelled" seems like gibberish because a step this radical should bring the infection rate down within weeks, not months. If it doesn't, then it's not a useful exercise.
I agree 100% - its a complete knee jerk reaction. In Finland schools and daycares were shutdown for 1 week and several days advance notice was given.

This, 4pm on a Sunday horseshit, is completely unwarranted given the circumstances - we dont even have 5,000 people dead around the world; these people need to be canned.

Lmao bullshit. You couldn't go to any local news channel/website/twitter?

And I'm the fool for what exactly? Calling out idiots that have been trying to deny this was nothing to worry about for the past several weeks? You've added nothing to the conversation other than "lol" at those who are trying to provide information.
You are a fool sitting scared and doing nothing useful for anyone but to satisfy your own smug self satisfied and narrow view of the situation. Driving peoples level of fear and stress up higher than it already is the kind of bullshit that is leading to emotional knee jerk reactions that will lead to permanent damage to our society and economy.

People need to chill the fuck out, not the opposite.

True. But you also need to learn how to use Google and not ask Beyond for source immediately

Asking for a source was a serious question, couldn’t find a single headline to substantiate for 10-20 minutes after it was mentioned.
You asked for a source around 5 minutes after we found out from the Alberta conference. So you were on Beyond, not looking for a headline for 10-20 minutes. Timestamps don't lie :P

Lol how narrow-minded are you to think that anyone that doesn't think like you is "sitting scared." How manly of you. You're so tough man.

Show me where I've driven up fear and stress? Sounds like you're just upset that your gf/wife wasn't consulted and communicated to about school shutdowns and you couldn't "chill the fuck out" enough to google cause your palms were sweaty.

I think everyone is experiencing stress over this to some degree. It doesn't really help to argue. I view the information here with a grain a salt, much the same as everything else that isn't coming straight from an official body in the Country.

Really, biggest concern with the schools. How do we make this normal for our kids, how we do we maintain a work routine.

Is it confirmed the schools are closed for the remainder of the year? I can only find information suggesting "indefinitely" and news articles before the actual closure indicating that "if" schools closed, it would be until September.

Not confirmed as of this instant.
Previous talk has had them foolishly saying "they can't see them coming back before September" but that makes no sense.

Doesn't specifically say anything about for the remainder of the year, but they do go on to say "Every student will receive a final mark and students will progress to their next grade level next school year." so it kind of implies that the year is done?

If they think average kids can miss a full third of a year and advance to the next grade, I guess we need to start laying off teachers and ballooning class sizes to about 45.
    Good luck with that.

I can't imagine how our lives will be when only 98% of us miraculously survive this.

Tomorrow I think the charges will be a bottle of scotch at drop off OMG we don't pay daycare people well enough.

I think I shall start drinking soon.

You aren't drinking alone if there's kids in the house.

I have enough hard alcohol to last a few weeks, but I need more PC beer. The stress level has not lowered my consumption.
