Put together the BoS rack today. Overall pretty pleased with the quality.

Ended up doing one layer of 3/4" plywood and four 1mx1m mats on top. Seems to be sufficient space, but we'll see once I start using it. Will be doing most, if not all the exercises inside the rack. So far the only downside, with overhead press I'm hitting the top of the rack by like 1-2"

The barbell came pretty oiled up, is there a proper way to clean it up a bit?

Swap the j hooks to the other side and do the standing overhead press in front of the rack. This is exactly why I added 2 feet in front of mine so that I could do these and also deadlifts/bent over rows outside of the power rack. You will want the rubber mat in front as well since that’s where you’ll be standing/putting down the weights.

Is it's the BoS bare naked steel bar? You'll want to keep it well maintained, it'll rust quite easily once the oil gets wiped off.
Yes, just grab a clean rag and wipe it down, the oil will wear down pretty quick.

Get a cheap wire brush, brass is usually good and keep it clean. If you use chalk wipe it off right away as it absorbs moisture. I use 3in1 oil and oil it once every 2-3 weeks, couple drops on it and then use the wire brush to work it in and wipe it clean with a rag after.

I just got a flat bench a few months back because nothing at that weight point was available at the time.

Maybe I can sell my flat bench.
I was pretty desperate at the time too and bought a mediocre adjustable bench. Didn't realize at the time the capacity was only 300lbs either.
Felt pretty wobbly trying to do incline bench press or military presses.

Hopefully you can get yours sold and pick this up.

I ordered yesterday and it's out for shipping today

That's what I do too, or do seated overhead presses.

Yeah, I may have to do that. I usually do overhead press until lockout, might just pull it back a touch and could then probably manage fine inside the rack.

Do you oil the entire bar? Or just the knurling?

Regarding the bench, the one on sale is the same one I have (fitness reality 1000). Decent quality for the price.

Yes, oil the entire bar. and stand it up and get some oil in between the bar and the sleeve where you load the weight. I just would oil everything and wipe it down.

Debating on buying this since the cable pulley and lat pulldown attachment at Bells of Steel are both sold out.

    https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08GYGTBMR

It's a lot cheaper but still has a max load of 220lbs. I checked out a bunch of others on Amazon and some are only rated up to 40 or 60 lbs.
Camel camel camel shows it's at an all time low today too

Be careful of these as they are known to use a lot of cheap parts. I probably spent the same amount of money on something I trust.

I bought one, and it's awful and annoying. The weights swing if you get into any kind of cadence, and if your rack isn't heavy enough/bolted down, it starts sliding.

Yeah I wasn't totally sold on it, so I wanted to get some other peoples' opinions on it first

hmmm that doesn't sound great. My rack is pretty heavy with the weight plates stacked at the back but the swinging would be very annoying.

Something like that would be ideal, I just don't think I have the space for a whole other machine.

Yah pretty much why I quit using mine because of this very reason

I got rid of a shittier version of one of these, because it just took up a fuck ton of space I didn't have.

Im waiting on the lat pulldown. I asked BoS when they will get it back in stock:

"The Rack Lat pulldowns are scheduled to arrive late August to early September."

I couldn't get an integrated lat machine in my rack so i had to go this route. The foot print isn't really that bad to be honest. I have a small space as well and make it work. It doesn't need a lot of side clearance.

Dang, another month to wait at least

That's the true, the footprint isn't very big and you stay within its boundaries while working out. My rack and bar just take up so much space otherwise.

I still want to downsize to either squat stands w/ safeties, or a half rack.

Ideally an SML-1 with the HR-2 conversion and some safeties, like this:

I for one look forward to gym equipment being cheap again.

I'd like a full set of rubber dumbells from 5-90lbs.

Been waiting for a price drop, pretty well reviewed too from what I'm reading online. Beats paying for shipping for a rogue echo bike too.
