Saw a white guy wearing a mask today in Home Depot.

The world really has gone to hell

You know it's serious once white people start wearing masks. That's how you can predict the peak.

C'mon we both know that it was some millenial or hipster trying to gain SOME man cred. No sane white guy would ever be in Home Depot with a mask on.

The build up since a week ago is on the news everywhere. Trump is hoarding for a reason. Even the FBI got in on it.

If the spread is asymptomatic, mask is the only way to save others if you don't know you are infected.

It looks like a lot of private companies are taking the highest measures and or taking the CDC advice. When I've been out picking up parts and doing service, most places won't let you past the front door without a mask and gloves minimum.

I'm not a big stickler on needing extreme quality. ISO 9001 is fine by me, but anything purchased is better than "wearing a scarf". Having a populace that goes through masks like crazy isn't really the best use of limited high quality items. Does the USA make good masks? Yeah, they are good - but again - Asia makes them better and in much greater numbers for sheer necessity.

China donating 1,000 ventilators to New York. China has a very strong ability to ramp up production in medical equipment.

Thought this was interesting. I'm sure one or two of you have some blue shop towels laying around:

Seen lots of white people wearing masks or other face coverings around Seattle grocery stores. Majority of people still are not but it has become common enough that you’ll see a lot of them. This week they also started putting plexiglass around the cashiers. Only other place I have gone is Home Depot and the employees all have to wear them there. I’m not going to unless they require it.

Of course, EVERYBODY is touching the PIN pads and self-checkout touchscreens because we don’t really have tap to pay credit cards here. Apple Pay is pretty common so I use that when I can.

I'm white and started wearing a mask going in high-traffic places like the grocery store. Part of it is my preference to do what I can do avoid getting this - the other part is on the insistence of my asian wife.
