When I wear one I ensure it's the upgraded mask with the valve that helps me send out my germs buts prevents others from getting in. (as many others do from my observations)

Weird poll when stores have been sold out for months. Where do you even get legitimate masks at retail price these days?

    Homemade masks also count.

I luck out at an independent pharmacy, caught them at the right time.

I also luck out at Walmart and got 1L of hand sanitizer. And some stores seems to have some left still.

    So I'm set til July.

A lot more mask wearers this week at Co-Op bur still less than 50% including staff.

You’re back! I assumed you had been hospitalized with an ironic case of covid.
Nah, just working 70+hr weeks now that I'm home and still trying to do some volunteering on the side. Not much time for anything else for the foreseeable future unfortunately.

His position has not changed and align to current government guideline.
No, you're still missing the point, and I have no "position", I am just repeating current information from hospital management and consistent information from epidemiology experts hoping it will do some good as the amount of disinformation out there is ridiculous. The issue is with how people are using the PPE, not the fact that they want to wear PPE. The way it's being used often makes it worse than if they wore nothing at all. Maybe contact the hospitals if you think you know more about proper PPE use/removal than them? They have daily meetings on exactly what I was posting about and have now cut off all visitation except for minors and the dying. Proper PPE use/removal procedures have not changed so I don't know what you were reading that is showing that those guidelines have changed? Do you have a link?

There's people in other threads recommending people round up their families and visit their elderly parents...quite surprising to see that some people think that is a good idea and nobody disagreeing with it. I'd suggest sticking to Skype, etc. rather than expose the highest risk groups of people unnecessarily. If you want to get on my case for trying to spread the word about proper PPE use, I'm genuinely surprised you aren't worried about people encouraging family visits with the elderly.

This is strictly about mask and recommendation/guideline of wearing masks. And there are other precautions you need adhere to with gloves and masks and people do need education. Which is what the CBC video I have posted is about. And here's another quick tutorial on how to handle them.

The problem here is asymptomatic spread of the virus and masks will reduce it. But it will increase risk on the wearer if they don't know how to handle it properly.

Right, that is what I have been saying over and over so I'm not sure I understand what you're disagreeing with? And I do apologize if I have said anything confusing, that has not been my intention. The coles notes of everything I've been saying has just been to encourage people to want to use PPE to do it properly, and people using PPE improperly often creates a bigger risk than wearing nothing at all. The problem is you get people who can't even be bothered to do a 1 minute google search wearing sawdust masks at the grocery store touching their face every 30 seconds to adjust the mask that is offering them zero protection, and every time they do so they put whatever is on the exterior of that mask on their hands. That is just one example.

And now we have people in other threads actively encouraging others to round up the family and go visit the grandparents - those people are the reason this will last months and not weeks. I'm genuinely surprised nobody seems to have a problem with that but people are arguing with me about encouraging proper PPE procedures lol.

My wife is in a managerial role in one of the Emergency departments in Calgary so every single day I get to hear about how things are going, updated protocols, how many new/fewer COVID patients there are city-wide, the things that are driving healthcare workers insane, etc.

The 1L, I have to ask Pharmacy at Walmart. They didn't lay it out, as per recommendation on a thread @ RFD.

The 235ml bottle that I also got at Walmart is at the usual soup/body wash area. 1 per customer. Plenty left all over town as per timing of this post. It didn't take long for Northland to clear out, there were at least 20 bottles left when I got mine yesterday.

If stock counter is correct, DeerValley Walmart is your best bet.

Stock counter is based on POS. Sometimes there's a lag. Given I have seen staff using the same products in store, won't be surprised they are looking out for themselves.

Retail inventory systems are not perfect and can be outdated or incorrect due to theft, loss, and other circumstances.

If you are that desperate for disinfectant. Gasoline works in a pinch and I know where to find hundreds of litres of the stuff. Haha

But enough time to give negative rep over a comment on you writing way too much.

    Way to go?...

Is it pretty safe to say that actual medical masks are impossible to purchase right now and will remain so for the foreseeable future?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.....(just kidding someone will and maybe even negative rep me too) but it would STILL be a complete waste for Joe public to wear a medical one anyway wouldn't it? If you're legit sick and should have one you should also be at home. If you aren't, even a cloth one or a shitty sawdust one is good enough if you're not fucking around with it constantly. I mean to my nearly ferret level brain, it's more important to stop all the moisture expulsion from your own mouth/nose within one of those than it is to worry about filtering the air you inhale. If people aren't spraying spittle vapours everywhere when they breath/talk then that's half the battle isn't it?

I called my pharmacy today to see if they'd give me a testosterone shot. They said they don't have masks, they're not giving needles, and to try again in a couple weeks. That doesn't sound too promising, but that's what one person at one pharmacy in a city you don't live in is saying.

Apparently it's to protect other people from you, in case you are asymptomatic.
